I don't get it. With all the government benefits, how can anyone be in poverty?
You are right, worf, you don't get it. Government benefits only help keep people from starving (usually) month to month. They don't fix all your problems. Minimum wage doesn't get (or keep) a person out of poverty. Unemployment benefits are expiring (again). For every available job, 5 people are applying for it.
