ND coming to the Vegas bowl is as much a pipe dream as byu winning the NC next
year. The Champ sports bowl pays out over double what the Vegas Bowl pays. Utah
will end up playing in the Vegas Bowl against a lousy opponent, ESPN is
predicting Ohio or Temple. This is the part of college football that I hate the
most...the $ hungary bowl system. For all those cougar fans holding out for a
ND-BYU Vegas bowl, better book your hotels in New Mexico.
Agreed with uteowl.Vegas may be courting the Irish, but what about
other bowls courting the Irish? Certainly ND would take the best option. Perhaps
Vegas won't be their best offer (@ 7-5 it might). If the Vegas bowl
takes ND, then they would have "next" pick of MWC teams after TCU.
That doesn't necessarily mean Utah. BYU, AFA, and SDSU are also bowl
eligible. If ND goes to Vegas look for the MAACO folks to court BYU.That would give SDSU to Poinsettia, which is a done deal. AFA would likely go
to the New Mexico Bowl, Army to the Armed Forces bowl and Utah to the
Independence bowl against an ACC team. Possibilities include Clemson (6-6), GA
Tech (6-6), UNC (7-5), and Boston College (7-5).For the PAC-10 to
send somebody to the LV, Oregon State would need to beat Oregon or ASU would
need to beat Arizona. While, Washington will likely finish 6-6 after they beat
WSU, that would only give the PAC 4 eligible teams (USC is out) and they will be
snatched up earlier than the Vegas, which has 5th pick.
You can put your money on this: if ND goes to Vegas Utah won't. If that happens
might as well make travel arrangements and book your room in Shreveport for the
Independence Bowl. Armed Forces will want AF and the Poinsettia will take the
Odds are The Utes will be in the LV bowl. I'll go just for the buffets. I'd guess they'll play Oregon St, UW, or Az St which ever win next week
and becomes bowl eligible.
Story correction..Notre Dame is going to the Champs Sports Bowl to
play ACC#3 -They would only have been an option if they lost to USC
and ended up 6-6.
Is someone expecting TCU to not accept their BCS bowl invitation? They
automatically qualify by being ranked in top 16 and ahead of every conference
champion except that of the PAC 10 and the SEC. Utah most likely
will be in the LV Bowl. That´s great for Utah fans who can get there
without having to fly too far or make a gruesome all day drive (like when we
played in the sugar bowl). And we hope to be matched up with a pac 10 team, but
who knows with this crazy season. Whoever plays the utes will find
themselves coming out on bottom of the final score. Utah will keep their streak
