I hope that they include e-mail links to get information. They only provide phone numbers, which is a drag because I do not have the time or opportunities to be on the phone while I am at work.
...'A church member can see a map of his own ward boundaries including a satellite view identifying the homes of members in the ward.'...
I sm not entirely comfortable with that.
ArizonaDad, I believe you can only see your own stake, and get the same info as you would in the stake directory.
Good...maybe with a satallite view of which houses belong to their ward, they can finally figure out those that don't so they can quit leaving notices on our door about relief society or ward socials. I'm neither a member nor do I care to be a member and I find it most annoying AND RUDE for LDS church members to make the assumption that because my house is in THEIR ward boundry that I of course would want to be a participant of all their pamplets and notices. I DON'T!!!!! That's what makes the LDS church so annoying to us non-members. You don't show consideration for us. We don't bombard you with our notices of bowling night or trick or treating...respect us. So maybe some good will come from this....
dalep2u,
I feel the same way, and I am LDS! Unfortunately, privacy in the LDS Church is not valued as it should be.
@dalep2u
They are simply inviting you to activities, you don't have to go. LDS people get criticized all the time for not including non-LDS neighbors in activities but when they do try to include others they get attacked for not leaving people alone. Someone will find a reason to be offended no matter what is done.
To dalep2u: How nice of your neighbors to include you in their activities. You don't have to join the church, but it is so nice that they want to make you feel included. I wonder if this article was about how self-absorbed mormons are in Utah, that you or anyone else who feels negativity toward the church would be all over that. I say, be greatful for neighbors who are friendly. It wouldn't hurt to come to a BBQ.
I think the LDS Church's new website is fantastic! What an upgrade!
When we were they only LDS family in our small town in central Wisconsin we were pleased to receive door fliers from the various churches and organizations. Because we responded with kindness and interest we were treated the same. Its sad when someone takes offense at a friendly gesture.
We are a small Ward in the middle of no where so some satellite information on how to get there is appreciated. It only works on the stake you are in. I've used it to see what it did with my address.
