The Utah Compact is a sham. A smokescreen to prevent real solutions to the problems caused by the immigration of cheap workers replacing American workers.

FEDERAL SOLUTIONS.... Generalized hogwash. Utah will vote for strong borders but refuse to pay for the cost. Urge state leaders to be reasonable about criminal activities. Why?

LAW ENFORCEMENT: ... Stop and prevent local law enforcement of criminal commercial activities.

FAMILIES: ...Promotes illegal immigration through anchor babies with disregard for American babies whos parents dont have jobs.

ECONOMY: Utah is best served by a free-market...Only on the side of cheap labor. Utah is an anti-worker, business favoring business-friendly state.

A FREE SOCIETY: Only for those who can afford it.

The real problem of the uncontrolled immigration is the displacement of the American standard of fairness and equal opportunity in the commercial world. International corporations are being allowed to destroy America in their quest for profits. The Utah compact is just one more nail in our coffin.

Who is talking about separating "pure babies" from their families? Any legal residents are free to travel with any illegals that are sent home. No one would separate the family members, unless some family members choose to not travel to the illegal's home country. That is a choice made by the individuals, not by the State. Just as it was a choice by individuals to break our immigration laws.

Trust "conservatives" --most of whom claim to be followers of the meek and lowly Jesus -- to loudly protest compassion and civility. This is known as "irony."

John, don't pull that "it's for the children" line on us - liberals always pull that one out of their hat to tug at our heart strings. Legal or illegal immigration has nothing whatsoever to do with whether "Heavenly Father loves those children and I am sure he expects us to treat them with love and kindness." Get rid of the anchor baby issue - problem solved for the future. My fore-bearers came from England also - legally. No LEGAL immigrants are "met with hostility" in this country.

"people who immigrate here legally today are not met with hostility"

Based on what?

Are you kidding me!?

Anyone with a darker skin or with an accent is profiled and oftentimes, ridiculed here by Conservatives.

There is no distinction between who immigrated legally or not. "If you don't look like or sound like me, then I must be hostile towards you" is the main theme I'm getting when I watch these Tea Party wack jobs and their asinine arguments. They can't even get along with their fellow white Americans.

"...pure and innocent at birth ... They did not come to Utah knowing why or how their mothers came here."

Correct. This is why illegals who purposely come here and use their babies as pawns in order to take advantage of the American system ought to be imprisoned for child trafficking and exploitation. And if parents who illegally invade this country are caught and deported, and if they are then separated from their children, it is the PARENTS' fault -- N0T ICE'S fault; not America's fault; not Utah's fault!

"Thank goodness that my forbears who emigrated to America from England were not met with such hostility."

No, sir, it is the illegal alien who is hostile toward America and its citizens, who illegally trespasseS, lieS, cheatS, and steals. Again it is the illegal invader who is hostile towards the U.S.

I couldn't help but notice how ironic and hipocritical your post was.

You go off on... "If you don't look like or sound like me, then I must be hostile towards you"...

That's how you see, "these Tea Party wack jobs and their asinine arguments".

It sounds to me like YOU have the same problem!

Tea Party Wack Jobs don't talk like you (on politics) they don't agree with you (on politics), don't VOTE like you... so you feel like you must hostile towards THEM???

How Ironic and hypocritical!

What I want to know is after all the radicals have replaced our senators and represenative with ineffective politicians. Who will make alot of speeches, but not actually get anything done: no bills passed, no federal funds for our state.
Do you radicals actually think the other states are going to do the same thing?
NO, they will just take more money for their states and laugh how dump the people in Utah are.
Driven all the ethnic people out of this state: legal and illegal, because why would any person of color want to live in a state that would pass the kind of racist laws that are being proposed.
then driven business out of the state because no company will want to be associated With Utah (just like what is happening in arizona)
Will these radicals put their money where their mouth is and each write a check to the state of utah for all the federal funds that we will lose.
And personally create jobs for all of those who will be out of work.
All we can hope for is for the democrats to somehow save us from these nuts.

The effect of signing the Compact is basically to say, "I agree to do nothing about illegal immigration." That doesnt sound like much of a solution.

I dont necessarily think that illegal immigrants should all be rounded up and deported, but there are some serious problems associated with illegal immigration. Some of those problems can best be addressed by the states, and legitimately so, especially in our current political climate. The Compact steers away from addressing those problems, and stifles intelligent discussion on the issue.

The Compact sounds innocent enough, but its worded in a way that unfairly makes non-signers appear cold and heartless.

Your un-dieing faith in anyone with a "D" by their name is touching... but humorous at the same time.

The country has been run by a huge majority of people with a "D" by their name for the past 4 years... and look how effective THEY have been!!!

OBVIOUSLY people with "D"s by their name can be just as INEFFECTIVE as people with "R"s or any other letter by their name.

You need to quit trusting your PARTY implicitely... and start looking past the letter by their name and START look at the people representing you in Washington... NOT JUST THE LETTER BY THEIR NAME!

Hint... There are just as many "Radicals" on the Left, as there are on the Right. It's NOT a one-side problem. Regardless of how narrow and partisan your vision has become lately.
