I was surprised (OK, stupefied) by the opening line of this review. It leaves the impression that the author is not familiar with the musicals source material -- or has learned of the harsh realities of being poor and black and a woman in rural 1930s Georgia, which is the point of Alice Walkers well-known prizewinning novel. But then I'm reminded that Ms. Hansens article titled Kids Theater Offerings Abound grouped Dancing at Lughnasa with Frog Prince and Little Women.
