In 2008, President Obama campaigned on a platform of boosting the quality of life for senior citizens making $50,000 or less with a much-needed tax cut. His words back then were uplifting. "If you work hard and pay into the system, you've earned the right to a secure retirement." Even the staunchest Conservative could get behind those words. Because they're true. Seniors have fought wars for America. Their patriotism and sacrifices have kept us safe. They've built our cities and our roads. They laid a solid foundation for our nation's future. Today the GOP are saying the message is clear. You cannot count on Social Security. You cannot count on Washington, D.C., to protect your wealth. That's why the People are tired of RINO GOP's that are interested in money, greed, corruption, above the law, (ignore us common people unless they need your votes while re-campaigning again), career politician's who will take money from any special interest and say or do anything to keep his hold on power. It's secret government by the insiders, for the insiders only today. Ok John Boehner, where's our COLA's?.
yes, because the rich need that money so badly.
I don't understand how Republicans can decry the deficit and insist on adding $70 billion per year to it by extending tax cuts for wealthy CEO's, bankers, athletes, and movie stars who DO NOT need those tax cuts. HOW can Republicans think rich people need more money and poor people don't deserve health care? WHY do they want to defund the DOE and the EPA but not our bloated military machine?
It really speaks to what kind of people they are.
IT's spending that adds to debt,
NOT tax cuts.
IT is spending more than you have,
it is NOT letting people keep more thier more of thier OWN money.
NO wonder debt has skyrocket to record high under Obama and the democrats,
they have no BASIC understanding of accounting and finances.
it is not more money the government needs,
it less spending that must occur.
and YES everyone will feel the pain, but everything must be cut.
It's because the wealthy spend their money and that gives the rest of us jobs. How difficult is that to understand? Instead of building a new condo so that carpenters can have work, do you want to send the money to Washington and let them pay carpenters unemployment?
Speaking as a small business owner (because people like me get used as a cudgel for promoting the Bush tax cuts again and again) the paltry amount most small business owners will save will not lead to the hiring of anyone. Contrary to the ballyhoo and hype, the vast majority of us are not in the higher brackets that would benefit.
