Schofield Smith doesn't get a lot of recognition, but he quietly has been the glue to this Mountain Crest team.
I look for him to have a solid day tomorrow on O, D, and Special Teams.
Continued from Alignment article.
3A
Region 9 - Bear River, Ben Lomend, Ogden, Morgan, Stansbury, Grantsville, & Tooele
Region 10 - Judge Memorial, Park City, Juan Diego, Wasatch, Union, Uintah, & Carbon
Region 11 - Orem, Springville, Spanish Fork, Payson, Juab, North Sanpete, & Delta
Region 12 - Canyon View, Cedar City, Hurricane, Pine View, Snow Canyon, Dixie, & Desert Hills
Region 9 & 12 are the same as the UHSAA has them. Region 10 adds Carbon and minuses Highland. Region 11 adds Springville and minuses Carbon.
Big winners: Region 11: as a whole region there travel decreases by an average of 40.73 miles per trip per school.
Big Losers: Region 10: as a whole region there travel increases by an average of 28.17 miles per trip per school.
These are averages for the whole region. So on average every school in these regions will decrease or increase by this much. Not just one school.
Over all the net gain for 3A is a minus 3.14 miles per team per trip for all 3A teams. yes on average minus 3.14 miles per trip for all 28 schools.

Over all 12 schools travel would increase, 38 would stay the same, and 26 would decrease with these changes.
The following 6 schools would have an increase of at least 10 miles per trip.
Springville 51.53
Judge Memorial 39.20
Park City 31.09
Juan Diego 28.85
Wasatch 21.22
Carbon 20.17
*6 other schools have a increase of less then 5.25
The following 13 schools would have an decrease of at least 10 miles per trip.
Highland 100.23
Timpanogos 41.89
Cyprus 27.54
Delta 24.73
Orem 22.38
Juab 20.79
Payson 20.78
Spanish Fork 20.52
Union 17.93
Uintah 17.93
Hillcrest 13.25
North Sanpete 12.98
Murray 12.39
*13 other schools have a decease of less then 5.77
As you can see the decrease is much higher over all then the increases. Yes my list would hurt some schools, but would help more then hurt. It also keeps more schools that are in the same district (as in close to each other) together.
I really do like the new way the UHSAA is doing the alignment. It's not an easy job. Thanks
Fantastic game! Well done Mountain Crest and Bountiful.
Best of luck against Highland, MC... I'll be cheering for you! :)
Sometimes it IS better to be lucky than good.....right Mt. Crest?
