Good one :)

Personally, I liked the ad. Just saying, "Yeah, I've made mistakes. So has everybody else. I realize I could have done better, but you have to realize I could have done a lot worse." I know that sounds bad, but we've all thought that at one time or another...

Thanks for the article. I lost the rest of my respect for him during that commercial. I am surprised any company wants to stand behind him. The next pair of athletic shoes I get will not be nike.

Some of these guys are so disconnected to the very people who pay there salaries.

Doug says, "Nobody else in his position has done what he did. No star player Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, David Robinson, Bill Russell, or LeBron's new teammate, Dwayne Wade gave up on themselves and their team to join another team just to win a championship. It was unthinkable to them."

Karl Malone did

I disagree with the article. I think it's a sweet commercial and hits home. Coming into the league, Lebron said he wanted to win. He's doing what he can to better those chances.

Right on, you nailed it. He embodies all that is wrong with pro sports and Millsap embodies all that is right. Millsap is the true hero and you won't see any shoe commercials with him showing us what a spoiled brat he is.

Talk about Kobe ego ... Kobe's ego makes you shake your head at times, but he's never a quitter and he produces! LaBron pretends.

Excellent article. Hit that one right on the head!

Excellent article except it is a LeBron hater article.

Lebron did what Karl Malone did and that was leave his lifelong franchise in order to win a ring. Hurry and condemn Karl or is he too sacred?

What about Charles Barkley who did the same thing as did Gary Payton.

Lebron did it and took a huge pay cut in order to win
which is what it is supposed to be about. Were he an entertainer as you suggest why would he take less money to play the same game elsewhere?

Want somebody to blame? Go blame Joe Johnson who signed a huge contract to play with who???? yes the Hawks who have as much chance of winning as does Idaho Falls. He is a paid performer who no real hope of ever winning yet will take all the money.

You inadvertantly painted Kobe as being loyal yet after he pitched fits and ran Shaq out of town he had 2 bad seasons and demanded a trade. The Lakers still had him under contract and ignored his rants but he was leaving at the first chance.

Too bad you play the jump on Lebron card while he is down.

Listen, Bid and Magic and Jordan etc. never had to find another team because they already had Hall-of-Fame players alongside them, something LeBron never came close to having in Cleveland, so I don't but the whole "he's a wimp" argument.

HOWEVER, it certainly would have been more honorable to stick with his hometown, and the ridiculously egotistical way he left was horrible. As a native Pittsburgher, it was the only time I've ever felt sorry for Cleveland fans. I will continue to root hard against the Heat all year.

Hey Drone do you missing something , Malone quit? He was about retiring. LA was last chance to win ring for old man. LeBrat is different prime time star ...

Wilt Chamberlain did. Karl Malone did. Gary Payton did. Rasheed Wallace did. Kevin Garnett did. The list actually goes on and on... with stars of varying degrees of brightness.

But the article is right, I like your answers. It is always about the money, regardless of our idealism. LeBron is actually a victim here, too. Don't you realize th at the slick Ad Men at Nike sold him on the concept for this ad, told him, "It will be the biggest ad ever, larger than life, like you", appealed to his ego and then made an ad that further revealed him as a traitor, a chump and a pretender. I don't care if he wins 10 rings, he will always be the guy who lied to his fans and then walked out. Like Rasheed used to say, "C.T.C. - Just Cut The Check, baby."

Love the article! Lebron is a diva!!I lost a whole lot of respect for him this year. Bosh, Stat and Boozer are sub-stories! D-Wade was like a dirty politician, but I still have major respect for him. Carmelo is a diva too!

I lost even more respect for him when Ronnie Price hard fouled a Heat player and then tried to help him up and Lebron pushed him away, that was classless!

The worst part about this past summer free agents was the lack of class! ESPN fueled the fire too.

"Nobody else in his position has done what he did. No star player...gave up on themselves and their team to join another team just to win a championship. It was unthinkable to them. They wanted to beat those guys, not join them."

The key words here are "in his position."

Karl Malone joined the most hated of hated rivals, which still makes a lot of us bitter. But he was at the end of his career. Past his peak and without Stockton, he thought--wrongly--that the Lakers were his only hope.

On the other hand, King Nothing is in his prime and has plenty of years left. He didn't have a huge co-star retire. He was making plenty of money and playing for his OWN HOMETOWN TEAM for crying out loud.

Karl was desperate, but King Nothing is childish and selfish. I hope the Jazz continue to own him.

Nothing better than seeing the Jazz beat the Ego Driven Heat. Comparing Karl and Lebron is like comparing Hearold Minor and Jordan. Lebron is an ESPN Nike generated commercial. He has done nothing on the court as a NBA team player to warrant the overhyping that is Leborn James. He is not even in the same category as Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Karl Malone let alone greats like Jordon, Johnson and Bird. Not a fan of KoMe but, Lebron is no Kobe. Can't wait to see the end of his career and what kid of excuse commercials we will be seeing on ESPN and from Nike about how he never won a big game or a Championship.

The difference I see between Labron and Karl leaving their franchise is that Karl left after he was over the hill - Labron is still in his prime. I was very disappointed when Karl left, but I doubt it had the same sting as Labron leaving. Also, Karl's game would have been much different after John Stockton's retirement.

Awesome!

ask Obama - he will tell LaBron that he makes too much money and the government will have to redistribute that for fairness sake.

NBA and NFL and college players for the most part go where they can. James is a young uneducated man as he went to the NBA after high school. Maybe he has had some education. It's no big deal.

malone abandoned nobody---he had the blessing of all jazz personnel---he was retiring and just played another year for the opportunity which of course did not go as expected---last night proved that the heat may not go as expected either---
