Sondheim's music isn't quite as accessible as that of some other (wonderful) Broadway composers, but his music has affected me more personally than just about anything else out there. He's a master writer - his lyrics are intelligent, touching, witty, and incisive - and his music is often hauntingly beautiful. I can't wait for this event, and a big thanks to the DN for reporting on it since this had slipped under my radar.

I, too, would not have known about this wonderful concert without the coverage by Deseret News. People know a lot more Sondheim than they think they do. This concert will definitely by full of recognizable songs. It's like getting a CD of the "best of" of some group you don't recognize the name to and then finding that you already know most of the songs. What's even better? This is live!
