It's interesting that you think Utah will only manage one road win in two years...

1-11 next year. Just think if they didnt get scared and run away from the Boise Series they would be 0-12. But I guess you can say it was a smart move to schedule the Big Sky Power house Bobcats.

That schedule looks incredibly difficult! I just hope Utah continues to attract great talent and we are able to keep our coaching staff together.

PAC 12 is going to be amazing, but I fear there will be some growing pains. PAC is not MWC...trust me!

    Go Utes!!!

What a great schedule! Finally, some real games! I hope the Utes do well....who was on BYU's schedule oh, that is right, just like this year - nobody will care. Get used to being in the shadow!

Lehicoug: Who's bulletin board, TCUs? Are you serious? Unless you are suiting up tomorrow, delusions of granuduer posted by some Ute fans (or BYU fans for that matter) mean nothing to those playing the games.

So it matters not that some Ute fans think they will finish 10-2 and it matters not that some BYU fans think the Utes will finish below 0.500. Personally, I have afeeling the Utes will be in a much "rosier" position than BYU come week six next year...but that's me.

What a bunch of balonee (that's bologna phonetically for you Ute fans)!

NC for 2012? NC for 2010? In your wildest dreams.

It is truly amazing how some of you Ute fans can think that a winning season in the Hostess Cupcake League will just magically occur in the PAC 12.

Talk about arrogance. That's a brutal schedule. It will be great to see the match ups but let's be realistic. 7-5 maybe 8-4 at best first year and then a NC in 2012. Got be a conference champ first and that won't happen if ever!

Tomorrow's beat down just might knock some sense into some of you.

I'll be here serving crow after the game.

    TCU by 14.

lehi, somehow I don't think posts on the dnews message board becomes bulletin board material.

I think Jarvis has a good point about 2012 maybe being the year with Wynn as a Senior.

Next year will be interesting. . Cal should improve and are always tougher at home. As of now USC isn't in the Pac-12 south mix because of sanctions. It could get interesting if their appeal went through and they were allowed post season play next year.

Arizona looks like the toughest team right now, and their Pac-12 schedule isn't a cake walk with roadies to USC and Oregon St. Also if Foles goes pro, I don't see them as dangerous.

All that being said, we've got a pretty big game tomorrow, and I know my beloved Utes will be ready to rock.

    Go Utes.

Reality Check 7-5 next year! May all the fans of the Over-rated Utes this year enjoy your swan song and your last top 10 ranking for years to come...

May TCU do what Air Force and Pitt should have done, no wait a minute I hope TCU destroys the Utes and then may they also lose to Notre Dame, SDSU and BYU!!!

  • Lehicoug Lehi, UT
    Nov. 5, 2010 6:13 p.m.

You have to play the games before you are anointed PAC12 Champions.

    National Championship 2012???

Conference Championship game in Rice-Eccles next year??

You guys kill me...a dose of humble pie tomorrow versus TCU might be serve you well.

Riding off half the PAC10 as has-beens or automatic wins does not sound like gracious new comers to teams like ASU and UofA...or for that matter the rest of the league.

Warning: It is a season of attrition. Middle of the PAC teams will not be like playing CSU, SDSU, or Wyoming. Hope you have what it takes to handle it week in and week out.

Looking forward to hearing from all of you about week 6 next year and see if things are as "rosey" as you are already claiming them to be.

You all provide excellent bulletin board material!

    Go 'Devils!

It is funny becuase BYU has a down year how all the Utah fans keep talking about them being cupcakes. Has anyone seen their record against BYU? You can call them cupcakes becuase there not having your season but, if I remember right, it has been pretty even the past decade. Utah is not going to beat BYU every year, though a lot of silly Ute fans think they are. It's OK, keep riding high on your horse, it will hurt more when you fall.

Dream on. Utah has a better chance of losing to BYE on Sept 24th then to BYU on Sept 17th:

I assume you're a college football newbie and unaware that young teams often make dramatic improvements from one year to the next.

The predictions are probably based on Utah's history of almost never beating good teams, especially good PAC 10 teams, on the road.

Hey livin large, I hate to break it to you, but Montana State is nothing to brag about. It really hurts their strength of schedule. BYU and Pitt don't help all that much either. You don't prepare for USC by scheduling Montana St., pathetic!!

  • Tarheel Ute Colorado Springs, CO
    Nov. 5, 2010 5:00 p.m.

Challenging, brutal, - certainly a change. Wow, I new it would be different; but to see it in writing.

I'm not smart enough to deductively or reasonably assess wins and losses. But notably a tougher road to 10 or 11 wins. Something I (we) Utah fans have gotten used to.

Utah will continue to be tough at home, and will come into next season with a good run in 2010. This team is young, still rebuilding, and should be much better next year. And is any team on the schedule as good a TCU this year? probably not. However USC; Utah first PAC 12 game, first away game. What a buildup - very exciting.

    Go Utes.

Great schedule! In the PAC its always hard to know what teams start fast and will do well. My predictions are that you will do quite well this next year. There will be plenty of returning starters as well as the belief and excitement that they can win.

Hopefully now, we can all get along and cheer for each other UoU and BYU when we split ways.

    Good luck this weekend!!!

Utah will have a great schedule next year. Three tough games - USC, Oregon State and Arizona,
and of course California and Pitt will be tier 2 teams.
The rest should be easy pickens.

Keep your eye on that USC debut. what a way to open the season!

    Go UTES!!

    @ Deductive Reasoning

I'm assuming your name is satirical based on your actual deductive skills?

At BYU next year- loss? Apparently you're unaware that BYU has been terrible this year and Utah will be returning plenty of talent next year. Also, your predictions on Pitt and Cal are questionable at best. The Big East is terrible, and Utah will roll Pitt there next year. Cal stinks. USC and Arizona are toss ups. 11-1 or 12-2 next year, and Utah goes to the PAC-12 championship game.

Your next group of games is even mroe ridiculous.

  • LivinLarge Bountiful, UT

Impressive schedule for the U. Has BYU booked Dixie and SUU for their independent schedule?

  • Speed_Altitude Centerville, UT
    Nov. 5, 2010 3:53 p.m.

Long term with the big money TV deals and better recruiting, the level of the twos and threes will be better and stand up for a long grueling season. Also, playing in a BCS conference lets the University of Utah more easily retain their coaches plus provide better pay for retention. Utah is good now, just wait for a few years when all of the PAC-12 money starts flowing in!!

  • Steven S Jarvis Orem, UT
    Nov. 5, 2010 3:35 p.m.

The Utes probably aren't going to win the division next year with the more challenging games on the road. However 2012 looms large when they get the tougher stuff here.

I am going out on a limb by saying that 2012 not 2010 is the year the Utes will make the NC game. I don't see a shot at the title without this sort of challenge even if they manage to win out.

BYU game looks like a cupcake on Utah's schedule next year.

    Go Utes!
    Win tomorrow's game!

Well if we take 6th place in the pac 12 we can play in the Vegas Bowl. If we win the MWC we can play in the Vegas Bowl. This is definitely a no brainer. It is definitely going to be a change in mindset to get used to seeing a schedule like that. In the past we hoped for 1 or 2 of those teams to be on our schedule to be able to prove ourselves, now it will be every Saturday.
All I can say is WOW! I can't wait for the MWC to be in our rearview mirror.
It is a double-edged sword this year. I want the U to beat TCU and be in the discussion for BCS NC game, yet I look at next year's schedule and I have to say a team surviving that schedule unbeaten, or even 1 loss, definitely deserves to be ranked ahead of a team scooting along in the MWC or WAC playing cupcakes week after week.
    Go Utes!

Not sure the home schedule is much better than it was this year. Mont State, Washington, ASU, and Colorado are not much to get excited about. Let's hope Oregon State and UCLA are decent or it will be a boring home schedule yet again.

  • Question Cottonwood Heights, UT
    Nov. 5, 2010 2:44 p.m.

    MAN that's a tough schedule!

Our toughest game used to be BYU... now they look like the easiest game on the schedule.

I wonder how long it's going to be before the Utes are bowl elegable again? I don't see 6 teams we SHOULD beat on the schedule.

And even with 6 wins... what top-teir-bowl wants to take the #5 or #6 team from ANY conference?

Looks like the BYU game is not much more than an early season afterthought for the Utes next year, the USC game will be a lot bigger. As for playing the CU game last, they are our new conference rivals. What good is moving conferences only to attempt to hold on to a game with an old rival.

  • CRB Woods Cross, UT
    Nov. 5, 2010 2:21 p.m.

A 10-2 or 9-3 season by the way puts Utah in the Rose, Alamo or Holliday bowls. That assumes losses at USC and Arizona and perhaps against either Pitt on the road or Oregon State at home. Not worried about BYU if the worst QB (QB rating) in division 1 is still their starter. Not bad. Remember if USC is on probation even a loss to USC if it is the only conference loss allows them to go to the Pac 10 Champ game. How good is that.

  • So. Cal Reader Escondido, CA
    Nov. 5, 2010 2:17 p.m.

Welcome to the Pac 12! With love, the mighty Trojans! Seriously, this is such a no-brainer move for the Utes. They easily fit in well with the conference. Can't wait to see how Utah does and how those "terrific" & "humble" Utes Fans respond to this type of schedule-- week in and week out!!

  • CRB Woods Cross, UT
    Nov. 5, 2010 2:17 p.m.

This could produce a 10-2 or 9-3 schedule realistically with the returning players Utah currently has. Not bad during the first year in the Pac 10.

  • AZRods Maricopa, AZ
    Nov. 5, 2010 2:16 p.m.

Several Pac 12 teams will also get better next year.
I'm not worried about Utah holding it's own though.
It's gonna be a real crowd draw when they play in AZ.
The game against USC will tell alot about both teams.
    Go Utes and Sun Devils!

  • UoU 1991 Park City, UT
    Nov. 5, 2010 2:12 p.m.

    Challenging schedule.

Starting their PAC 12 introduction at USC seems appropriate. Playing Colorado at home in the season finale seems like an afterthought.

It's too bad the PAC 12 couldn't work out a deal with BYU/Utah, Colorado/CSU to play on the last Saturday in November. Utah and Colorado could play in September to open their PAC 12 seasons each year.

All of the other PAC 12 teams have traditional rivals. Playing Colorado to end the season will be like playing Air Force, but without the flyovers.

  • Sloppy J St. Louis, MO
    Nov. 5, 2010 1:54 p.m.

Now let's not soil the sheets next year, Kyle, Jordan and the bunch . . a solid year would reflect well on the poor saps you left behind, but a mediocre or lousy record gives the BCS more ammo to keep the status quo.

  • USC Fan in Utah Spanish Fork, UT
    Nov. 5, 2010 1:51 p.m.

I had hoped they would play Oregon at Oregon next year. Just too bad about the soft non conference schedule Pitt? Montana State?

It will be fun to watch... thats for sure

  • MAFU Salt Lake City, UT

  • Not So Fast Salt Lake City, UT

Tough schedule. Not only are the road games not easy, they are on consecutive weekends. Utah should be a really good team next year with lots of returning players so it will be a fascinating test. Didn't I just see this photo on another story?
