It would be a bit more useful if the police, patrick or someone explains what his motive was. I guess we'll have to wait for the trial to release some information. I imagine there was a motive and wasn't some random early morning thing that he decided to do for no reason.

If this person was somebody outside the Church (non-LDS) instead of a disgruntled....unhappy with the Church LDS member...the "anti" comments would be flying against him here. Oh my...how the tone changes when it is one of your own. The silence is deafening and the hypocritical attitude is apparent!

The article says "he set fires in two separate churches because he "believed the LDS Church had lied to him." That is the motive in a nutshell without facts to explain it in detail.

@jiggles 11:23 AM. Maybe he is one of those "inside/but outside" of the LDS Church members who was excommunicated recently (aka kicked out of the organization for whatever reasons). Have you requested his official membership records?

What he did is inexcusable (for example burning down a church or your house), no matter what religious affiliation the arsonist delcared.
