Someone needs to ask Pineview why they insist on being the only school to play on Sat during the U v. TCU game. Utah's Shaky Smithson's little brother will miss the U game because of this. Every other 5A and 4A school is playing on Friday. Everyone from Highland to the UHSAA asked Pineview to play Friday, but they refused. 100s will miss the U v. TCU game because they want to travel to support their school and kids - all because of Pineview.

Pine View had to play last Saturday too so I'm sure they felt they needed the extra day to prepare and get healthy. I don't think it's fair or right to blame Pine View for playing at the original scheduled time or for wanting to give their kids the best chance to compete. Sorry to those that are going to miss the Utah game but life is full of tough choices, this is just one of those. Highland is a good team and I'm sure this will be a fun one to watch.

Don't blame PV for the schedule, maybe the Highland team wasn't allowed to travel all day Friday and miss school to play the game. This decision was probably made by the Principal and AD of Highland. PV will play whenever the other team decides to show up.

Go figure, play Saturday, have the STUDENT-athletes stay in school longer, wouldn't want that to happen I guess.

I think this could be a really close game. People up north tend to dis on the Region 9 teams but Pine View is tough to beat at home. I think every year since the new realignment a St. George team has made the semi-finals and one year the finals. Pine View beat Highland one year and took an excellent Cottonwood team to the brink. Hopefully, the Highland Rams are ready to play and not looking ahead or they will have a long bus ride home.

Highland is not blaming the PineView AD: the game was supposed to be played at 5:00 on Friday. If the teams don't agree then the default time is 1 PM on Saturday. The Pineview coach never attempted to negotiate. He decided he wanted an extra day to "prepare". Sounds like gamesmanship to me and just trying to disrupt as many people as possible. Would love to hear a better explanation from someone from Pineview. Extremely disappointing that Pineview wouldn't step up and do the right thing.

On the UHSAA website the brackets show the game schedule can be played Fri/Sat Nov 5/6. I also heard that Highland didn't want to make the trip anyways, because a win was in the bag. They tried to negotiate for PV to travel up there so they could save travel money. ?????? Who knows what is really going on. Should be a good game. Will watch the UT-TCU game later on DVR.

Funny how doing the "right thing" only seems to benefit Highland. Where does it say the game was to be played at 5:00 on Friday? Look at the UHSAA schedule and it only says Fri/Sat November 5/6. I think the home team should get to have the say when the game should be played, after all Pine View is a #1 seed and Highland is a #2. It's also funny that some fans think Coach Hosner's goal is to "disrupt as many people as possible". I'm pretty sure he's focusing on the game and getting kids prpared to play, not scheming on he can make people miss the Utah game. Extremely disappointing that Highland fans think the playoffs should revolve around them. This is going to be a fun game to watch.

To Highland,
What a bunch of whiners! Who cares! Not everyone is a college and/or Utah fan. They invented a cool thing called a DVR, maybe you should get one before Saturday.

I'll tell you what is sad, is the fact that Pine View is hosting a game at all. Timpview and Springville both won their regions, while Pine View was third in Region 9, yet Timpview is traveling to Springville. What should be happening is both Highland and Pine View should be on the road at one of those two schools, not a third-place team hosting a second-place team. I guess it won't happen again after the realignment next year gets rid of the stupid 3A/4A split in Region 9 and there are only four 4A regions. Thank goodness.

If the game is played on Friday, Highland catches a bus Friday morning, plays the game and comes back that night. If it's played on Saturday at 1, Highland has to leave Friday, spend thousands of dollars in rooms, have the kids not sleep in their own beds, wake up an Saturday, play and then come back. It's going to cost Highland thousands of extra dollars to play this game on Saturday at 1. You don't think the Pine view coach wants highland to have to sleep in a motel on Firday night?

Southern Utah refs will make it very diffcult for a diverse team from Salt Lake. Highland will have to overcome at least 150 yards in penalties to win this game (2 years ago Highland had over 200 yards of penalties).

Pine view was third in its region (behind 2 3A teams). Highland was second, yet the game is being played in St George. Weird.

Why would So. Ut refs make it difficult with a diverse team??... besides what happened 2 years ago. I doubt the same refs are officiating this years game.

Rams are not making excuses. They will come and play. There is absolutely no reason that this game could not have been played on Friday. Highland knew coming in that they were going to have to travel and never tried to have the game changed to Highland as Willie at 12:35 tried to say. Sounds like someone is trying to find something to light a fire under Pineview. I know that Highland will be ready to play. Thanks, Coach

i think pineview has pretty solid chance at knocking highland off. not because of the home field advantage, or that pineview CAN be a pretty good football team, but because highland is a VERY wavy team. i mean they can look like a pretty amazing football team when they want to. but they can also look like a very mediocre squad at times. and i dont know, something tells me their kinda overlooking pv because if they do win, timpview (im assuming) will be waiting and if thats the case, and pv catches them off guard, the rams could be in alot of trouble!

Thats funny when playoffs start the money that goes to the games, help the schools travel. And I am guessing the people that are crying on here won't be at the game too.

This is my upset game.. thinking the travel distance + highland's inconsistency (especially since they've been playing so well) equals them letting up allowing Pine View to pull off the upset.

Doubtless more UofU grads and fans live in St. George than in the Highland district. Sure, we'd all like to be at the game, but for most of us that isn't gonna happen anyway. We watch it on TV or use the DVR.

PV played last Saturday afternoon to accomodate Maple Mountain and now would obviously like the extra day to prepare and rest up. PV has at least one (maybe two) injured starter(s) who could be cleared to play with the additional day's wait.

PV never asked to be put in the split region and has competed in 4A since 2008 with a student body smaller than a number of current 3A schools, so don't even start with the seeding thing. There's more than enough unfairness to go around.

PV may have made a huge mistake by insisting on a Saturday afternoon game. They just gave Highland another reason for motivation.

The fact is that the default time is Saturday at 1 pm if both schools can't come to an agreement. Highland principal proposed several other options, including Saturday evening but PV wouldn't budge (coach decision backed by principal).

PV argument includes desire to have a week to prepare...yet the winner will have less than a week for the semifinal. Which would be more important?

The conspiracy that the PineView coaches, players, fans and UHSAA have entered into rivals that of the John Kennedy murder. If I were Highland I would keep my eyes open for IED's along I 15. If you make it that far, look out for hotels that are part of it as well, making the rooms so uncomfortable that the players can't sleep and the fans outside making such a scene making rest impossible. The local law officals will keep you from getting to the game on time. If you make it to Pine View, the gate officials are to keep fans out by searching, having no change for admission fees, anything they can to make it impossible to get to the game. By the time the fans get into the stadium the sleepless, tired players and coaches of Highland will have suffered a loss, not because they were bettered by another high school's team but the massive conspiracy to keep Highland out. Sound right, let the young men play, cheer your team and enjoy the dedication of both teams. Go Pine View

Hey Timp, how about you focus on TV vs SV's game because the devils could pull an upset. the RAMS are rolling right now 42-13 RAMS
