To Ms. Jones and Mr. Litvak:
Thanks for your continuing commitment to keeping the thinking people of Utah entertained.
Your talent for the ironic (one grocery store=bad...one healthcare provider=good, etc.) and your willingness to keep trying in the face of facts, logic, decency and history is delightful.
Though I'm not quite sure what the non-thinking people of Utah (your supporters) are getting out of your antics, I think I speak for the rest of us when I say "Keep up the good work!"
I'm not sure why having more Democrats or more Republicans in the legislature helps anything. All I care about, is that my representative cares about me and my fellow constituents, and legislates accordingly.
There is a major political party in Utah which has adopted an extreme position, but it's not the Democrats.
We will not rest until 100% of the Utah political machine is Republican! Go Big Red!
The culture of corruption entrenches. More of the same, not new ideas, a one party system, election after election. Don't complain if the garbage we have seen in the news about our leaders just keeps continuing. The GOP does not fear the voters. They don't need to.
Total one party domination invites corruption, no matter the party.
@paperboy111:
Here! Here! Long live the Institutional Party of the Republican Revolution! The revolution must be institutionalized and control must be total!
Worked for Mexico, Cuba, and China, right?
Unfortunately, the Democrats have made it just about impossible for most Utahns to support them. If they can't get elected they have no one to blame but themselves.
Why would I ever vote for someone with whom I disagree on almost every issue, over someone who supports my views and values?
Now I do wish there were a second viable party for Utah. Most of the Republican politicians in our state are arrogant and unaccountable. However, for me that second party could never be the Democrats.
It's unfortunate that the Dems lost ground during this election, especially when the controversies over the past few years have been Republican-made. Our one-party state is ripe for corruption.
I don't understand the argument that Utah was just riding the national wave of Democratic discontent when Democrats have NEVER had a toe hold in Utah. Since when does a Democrat in Utah EVER have any power or say whether at the ballot box or in government?
I thought the Founding Father's wanted checks and balances in government. Seems one party rule is only a step a way from dictatorship. All power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely. All hail the Utah Legislature.
If democrats in Utah had better ideas they would do better. It's just that simple. The voters see what democrats do in Washington, D.C., shoving down our throats far left wing radical legislation. Need I say more. The people of this country and the State of Utah do not want more government. They want less government and intrusion into our lives. Democrats were hammered at the polls because of their more government, more spending, taking more of our resources for silly spending programs. What about the countless millions spent by the UTA, and now a $26 million, 2 mile trolley ride in Sugarhouse (SLC). How great is that?
Limited government is what our Founding Fathers set up with the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution has been subverted since 1789 with amendments that have seriously eroded it, and with liberal socialist legislation. We have an elitist ruling class of politicians who have made this country a welfare state. This needs to be reversed. The Fed Reserve is creating money we don't have and the Congress and many state across the country is spending money we don't have.
The elections for 2012 have started as of November 3.
