What an embarrasment to the justice system this has been. Why even bother to have a trial? What a waste of time and tax dollars. We are all paying for this. Any jury or attorney who defends this man is just as sick as he is. Too bad the Smart family cant sue the judges and those who have delayed this case. I cant imagine the pain the Smart family has suffered from this especially Elizabeth. The People in the justice system and Mitchells attorneys should all be sentenced to jail for this for life along with Mitchell.

there must be some way to create a fair system of justice FOR THE VICTIM rather than these stinking criminals and their way overpaid lawyers (even public defenders get plenty of cash, paid for by GUESS WHO!).

and if the entire country cannot provide an 'unbiased jury of his peers', then what? let him go free and continue?

what would ol' J. Smith do in this case, forgive him and send him on his way? LOL

I can't imagine how frustrating this must be for Elizabeth and her family. My prayers are for no more delays, no more bizarre motions; just allow justice to proceed. Our criminal justice system and the judge needs to take the Smart family into consideration. Let them put this in their past and get on with their lives. Stop re-victimizing the victims.

Brian Mitchell probably has nothing going on in his life and is enjoying all the attention he is getting. He is probably safer in jail where he will get food, medical attention and whatever he needs to exist. Maybe he is a prophet, I guess we will find out soon.

I think the best "therapy" for Mitchell is to box him up and ship him to the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Let him be a "prophet" there in that locale and see how long he can manage to proselyte. Far better than we taxpayers having to support this piece of crud.

He's totally competent. He KNEW what he was doing BEFORE he kidnapped Elizabeth - DURING the whole time he had her and STILL does.

Glad to see the judge agrees.

I'm just glad that I'm not a prospective juror. This promises to be quite the trial.

Hear, hear!! I'd also like to see the judge order him to be clean-shaven, bathed and in a suit. The guy is crazy . . . like a fox. Let's hope that the jurors see through his manipulation.

This pathetic kidnapper/rapist should open his eyes and quite his phony acting. The federal judge doesn't buy his act and if the truth was known neither do his own lawyers.
