One game at a time. This BYU team isn't good enough to look past anybody. Just focus on winning this Saturday and potential bowls will take care of themselves.

What if! BYU wins it's next 4 games finishes 7-5 and tied for second in the MWC with a win over it's tie mate, Utah, provided the Utes lose to TCU. HMMMM, stranger things have happened!

0% chance tds goes bowling.

They'll drop one of the next 3 before losing by 30 in the beatdown provided courtesty big brother.

National Champ for Utah
No Bowl for byu.

Tough choice for future recruits

Insignificant... in comparison to the Ute game, that's an honest statement.

I'll be watching both games. I hope that the Cougars can continue to improve over these next games and that all cylinders will be firing by the time the Utah / BYU meet at the end of the month.

Go Cougars!

Xpat, im sorry but you and the rest of Cougar nation need to realize that:

the cougs are carried away. Pathetic outing on the season to date..
Most other schools would consider giving Bronco the 86..I think you should too...
Bowling for BYU is a pipe dream. The TDS has not played in a bowl game that meant anything since the 1996 Cotton Bowl Triumph over K-State. (14 years, 0 BCS games)

Cougar fans should be focused on the womens soccer team. Best program on campus.(By Far!!!) Legit NCAA tournament team.

Oh wow BYU going to a bowl game would be such a relief this year. I hope the offense can kick it into gear...hope...

"Then again, the beggars/choosers relationship is well-established, and BYU is currently a postseason panhandler."

Good stuff from Wrubell. We'll find out soon if this years edition of Cougar football has it in them to go to a bowl game. I'm curious to see if there's any O improvement after the bye week.

Colorado St on the Road will pose the biggest problem but nothing can be taken for granted. This team has shown that they are capable of losing to any team. The Utah St game looms large now looking back on the season. After the last four years it is a bitter pill, never thought we would need to worry about UNLV, Colorado St and New Mexico. A bowl game would be a good finish to what has been a very disappointing season. It is good to see the defense back in Broncos control and planning better, now if the offense and Heaps would show any type of improvement it would be a plus.

Winning the next 3 games is extremely possible and will make the Utah matchup fun to watch. As a Ute I am routing for my Cougar brothers for the next three weeks. Go Cougs!

I don't think it can be overstated how badly this team needs to make a bowl game. I don't care if it is in New Mexico. This season is one long spring camp in preparation for 2011 and this very young team needs that extra month of practice like no other.

BYU should beat New Mexico and UNLV. THe trap game in my opinion is Colorado State. Out of the next 3 that one is the toughest. They should win though. A bowl game would be grat for this team even if they ended up playin the 5th pac 10 team this year. My prediction when looking at the schedule to start the season was a 6-6 season. I think the young players really need a bowl and Heaps needs it more than any other player on the team

I don't know if anyone can comment on this, but I believe there is a new rule that teams with 7 or more wins are supposed to be considered before 6 win teams. That might make it a little more difficult for BYU to be chosen over Air Force who are likely to finish with a record of 9 and 3.

Greg, good stuff. Love your insight. Yes, the nation will be watching what's going on in SLC, but interesting how teh "comparitively insignificant game" down south will dwarf the other game in attendance! Need we say any more about the sorry state of the MWC when a school wins-out and gets a BCS berth and a 1-loss team settles for the all-impressive ..... Las Vegas Bowl? Great conf. champ bowl to hang your hat on, MWC!!! Candidly, I could care less the bowl game our Cougs go to, as long as they get there-- which I think they will .... by the skin of their teeth! Go mighty Cougs!!

If BYU is not preparing to WIN the next FOUR regular season games, just call it off now. Utah is looking great right now, but the rivalry game between the Cougars and Utes is never a gimmee. Sure the next three games should be winnable, but so should the one on Nov. 27. Where's the emotion??

Colorado State and Utah will be tough games. With how BYU has been playing, UNLV and NM will likely be close and tough as well. I still have hope for the Cougs to go bowling. I don't care where they go - another game is another game. New Mexico, San Diego, and Vegas all look good in HD.

Come on with this Fire Bronco garbage. I love Utah but whoever thinks Bronco needs to go is up in the night. Look at what happened to Coach Witt in 2007. Had a really hard year losing to UNLV 27-0. Coaches just like players learn and grow even mature. We all know how 2008 turned out for Utah. BYU will get back on their feet, there is more to life than football not much but there is more.

Let me paint you a picture....

Utes take a tough loss to a far superior TCU team... 35 - 10 ouch.

Meanwhile, BYU scrapes out some wins and ends up even beating Utah 24 - 21!

All of the sudden, BYU is tied for 2nd in the MWC.

BYU gets invited to Vegas, for the billionth time in a row, and the Utes go to the same bowl they went to last year.

I think I like the look of that picture... a lot.

Gooooooo Cougars!

Maybe we'll be better off staying home this bowl season. The extra practice afforded by a bowl game is attractive. Good luck to the hoots against the frogs. A TCU win might get a title shot, but no gimme here.

I have no interest in seeing BYU play in a bowl game this year, unless they intend to win it. We're seeing that kind of desire from the defense, but the offense still doesn't look like they even care. If they don't care, neither do I.

LonestarRunner

BYU won't be playing in a bowl game this year unless they intend to win it.

The only bowl I've seen the Cougars take lightly was 2008, when BYU seemed disinterested throughout the game in losing to an Arizona team that was very excited to be playing in their first bowl in about 10 years.

Against Cal, Oregon, UCLA, and Oregon State, the Cougars played with heart and intensity.

This year will be no different.
