Petey Lemon, a lot of Y fans were excited Hall made the Cards' roster after he
was an afterthought being ignored in the draft. I can't imagine any
football-savvy Y fan thinking he was ready to start. If anyone is
eating crow, it would be the Cardinal coaches and GM for allowing themselves to
be put in spot. Let's see . . go with the understandbly overwhelmed rookie and
hope he produces more points than he gives up on TAINTs, or go with the horribly
erratic veteran who couldn't even beat out Brady Quinn for a job on one of the
worst teams of the decade. Is Jeff George available? Heck, how about Kordell
Stewart? Akili Smith?Fender -- the article is about Max Hall and the
Cardinals . . how is Jake Heaps relevant to the discussion? Only if you're
trying to be snotty.
49ners fan, you show your ineptness with football. Anyone with half a brain
could see Alex Smith would struggle, he has had 7 different OC over 6 years. Try
learning a new playbook each preseason camp. There is not a QB out there who
will be successful in that environment. Are you the same 49ner fans that
protested Steve Young starting for the 49ners too.
At the end of the day, Alex Smith is still a great guy. At the end of the day,
Max Hall is....well you know what I want to say.
Funny a couple of years back the UTE faithful had Alex on his way to the Hall of

Since someone had to bring Alex Smith up. I think he contributed to the SF
effort more this past week than he has all season. I think he found his place.
Yes, I know Max has been a flop. He made it farther than I thought he would.
Hope he has a chance to redeem himself. Max and Alex are having similar NFL
success. Both enjoyed college success based on their systems and the talent
around them. The difference is one was a #1 draft pick, soon to be a bonified
bust. The other was an undrafted long shot that earned his chance. I will still
pull for both of them to succeed but the writing is in the record books. In my opinion Max was only right about a few. The rest of the commenters have
Now Max Hall has a chance to hate everything about the NFL!
Peter...Alex Smith does suck and is a lot worse then Max Hall that
fact is true. True max has made mistakes but Smith has done it consistently for
the past 6 years. Smith will NEVER get it or has what it take to play in the NFL
let alone in the 49ers organization. I look forward when the 49ers cut that
waste of a first round pick. In my book, the biggest first round bust ever,
especially when I am a die hard 49er fan.Difference between Max and
Smith. Undrafted rookie vs a former first round, number 1 overall pick, 6 year
Can't say I'm surprised with Halls NFL performance, or disappointed for that
matter. Consistency was never his strongest attribute.
It looks like the excitement over Max Hall getting to start in NFL has
wanned...a lot! BYU fans were talking all kinds of smack (a lot of
about Alex Smith) less than a month ago when Max Hall "lead" the Cards to
victory. Now they're whining about the coach giving him a chance to play and
prove himself in the first place. How does that crow taste?
SloppyHate to plagarize, but I couldn't say it better myself. Allow
me to rephrase sightly:"It's a shame the (Cougars) are so desperate
at QB they feel they're forced to turn to (Heaps) this early. I mean, I'm a Y
fan, but that's DESPERATE. Only the surest of sure things are remotely
successful as rookie QBs and most get a year on the pine. One of the
biggest responsibilites of a coaching staff is to set its players up for
success. Throwing (Jake) into a starting role was exactly the opposite. In my
world, it would be like hiring a new accounting graduate and making him CFO in
his second week on the job."Beautifully put, my man.
Zing! It didn't take long for some genius to turn an article about Max Hall's
struggles into a dig at Jake Heaps. It's a shame the Cards are so
desperate at QB they feel they're forced to turn to Hall this early. I mean, I'm
a Y fan, but that's DESPERATE. Only the surest of sure things are remotely
successful as rookie QB's, and most get a year on the pine. One of
the biggest responsibilities of a coaching staff is to set its players up for
success. Throwing Max into a starting role was exactly the opposite. In my

Sorry to say it, but I am not surprised. I hope Max gets another chance, if not
this season, then later.
No I am not a Ute fan, I am a BYU fan, but Hall made a lot of poor decisions
when he played at BYU. He always held the ball too long and always tried to
thread the needle. That alone would always frustrated me. If he doesn't change
that thinking, he won't be playing too long. He has the potential but that can
only take you so far.
When can we stop excusing Jake Heaps and the BYU offense by saying they are
trying to replace an "NFL Quarterback"?
