You know maybe I'm crazy but I think Maple Mountain actually has a chance in this game. I think it'll be a lot closer than the 33 point advantage Parry gave Pine View.

Are you kidding? Maple Mtn beat Uintah Twice and Ogden... Hardly teams to get excited about beating.

@King View

Of course you do because your from up north, and you think that the south teams are soft. This game won't even be close.

33 points is a little to much. Pine View will win. Good luck Region 9

The south teams are soft. Pine View got the easiest game of any of the 1 seeds and they are also the only one that I'm not sure can win their first round game.

ProvoAggie,
You forgot to put 'lol, and jk, and the ;) thingy' in there. someone might think you're serious. Pine View may have gotten the easiest first game, but Maple Mountain won't get close to a win.

Have you seen Maple Mtn. play????? They are a good young team. Take away the mistakes and errors and they are above .500. I would watch out for them and not put it by them! Good Luck Saturday!!!

Take away the mistakes and errors and many teams can claim to be undefeated, let alone above 500..

Take away the turn overs mistakes and Uintah would have beat Payson, Maple Mountain, Emery and Dixie. Or Salem Hills would have beat Uintah Twice and Maple Mountain wouldn't even be part of this discussion... we all know what Salem did the Maple Mountain. Mistakes are part of the game and you can't take out the mistakes... try minimizing them.

Relax everyone, Pine View has this one by 28 to 35 points. They are 6-3, Maple Mountain is 4-8. Pine View has beat some quality teams, Maple Mountain's win have been Salem Hills, Uintah twice and Ogden. Together they have seven wins and lots of losses. Pine View is playing in St. George, a tough place to play in the playoffs. They have an experienced coach that has a pretty good track record. Yes, Pine View got a good draw but I expect a decent size win come Saturday.

Good luck to Coach Burtenshaw and Maple Mountain. Have fun and enjoy the moment!!

It is exciting for Maple Mountain to be in the playoffs, especially having only two seasons under their belt. I tried to find the size of their team but can't find a listing anywhere. Pine View is a legitimate team with size, OL averages 262 lbs per man and the DL is 269 per man. I know that weight doesn't necessarily mean quality, but this will be a factor on smaller teams. Good luck to both teams, play safe without injury, and good sportsmanship. I think this will be Pine View by 24.

Re: Gdot-aka-whitelightning
Apparantly you haven't done your homework on Pine View. First off Katoa plays safety not DL. Pine View is big up front, but quite young. Their offensive line is Mikkelson 6-4 260 JR, McBride 6-1 245 SR, T. Stott 6-2 270 Sr, L. Stott 6-3 280 So, Boyer 6-6 245 So, and Tight End Wilstead 6-4 225 Sr. On the defensive line the Starters are Moeai 6-2 230 So, Matavao 5-9 245 Jr, and Seamanu 5-11 275 So.

I guarntee you this will not be a 30 point win. MM was down by 2 late in the 3rd quarter against Spanish Fork. Spanish would rip Pine View. MM has been young and now they are groing up in a hurry. If MM loses it will be within 10. Mark it down.

Re eagle,
This has the potential to be a close game or a MM win,the reason is the PV for all it's talent does not play to it,I.E.the Snow Canyon game, against a undersized 3 win team in a game that PV had to win at home,PV was outplayed and was life and death to win, they play uninspired football most of the time and don't seem to have any real leadership,a very predictable offense with no real play makers(don't tell me Murdock)and a arm tackle defense adds up to a mediocre team,if they get past MM it will be over for PV in the next game, sorry PV.

Oh look, it's the SEC, I mean Northern Utah fanboys.

Pine View will shred Maple Syrup to pieces. A 3-8 team with a chance at a state title? What a joke. I can't wait until our 4A Region 9 teams go back to playing 3A. At least the playing field will be fair, and we'll be well represented over this baloney.

It will be interesting to see who is more correct, me or Sdunn. I could be wrong, and I do like the progress of MM of late. They are getting better. But Pine View is still the proven product playing at home with an experienced seasoned coach.

Re:Joe Doc Baker

Are you saying that the 4A region 9 teams are treated unfairly?

d0wns0uth
Hurricane, UTAH

I don't understand what the diff is going to 3A anyway. You could not win Hurricane and Cedar so what is your point. Yes years to come you might have better talent there and you are bigger, but bigger don't matter if that is what you are thinking. Delta does just fine being a small 3A school. There will be more then just region 9 going back to 3A too. PV just had a off year, but don't think you are going to win every year when you are 3A. Hurricane is losing most of it's talent this year.

I think it's just a crappy situation. We're too far away to be put in a northern region. You've got three teams playing for a POSSIBLE 2 spots. That's only if they're clearly better than any other option in 4A, hence Maple getting in. Dixie, Snow Canyon and Pine View have always been the real power in the region.

The season for those three teams always comes down to 2 games. The games they play against each other. It's essentially a two game season.
