When was the last time the goal of the Fed was to increase inflation. This is a very, very strange policy. Especially, given this is a time of frozen wage increases, high unemployment, and deflated household incomes.
The goal of the Fed has ALWAYS been to avoid deflation, opting instead for some inflation. Why else would the dollar have lost 95% of its value since the year of its inception (1913)?
Lets see, Zion's did not accurately forecast the recession, why in the world would anyone listen to them about forecasting the recovery. The banks are the least credible people to be listening to right now.
My fortune cookie does a better job then these so called high paid MBA types.
It doesn't take an economist or billion dollar studies to see what is happening in the economy. Losing jobs and cutting wages is the first clue, then inflation and cost of living near going up daily is another clue. The last clue is suppressing americans from jobs and giving them to illegal aliens.
There has been no actions by government of labor departments to stop the carnage business is doing to the american work force and employing illegal labor for profiteering and tax evasion. A very lucrative tax evasion incentive.
And why do they always have to compare unemployment and compare it to national averages? Who care about the national average when its in your own home? The only reason is to down play any unemployment as irrelevant and not important.
Another less obvious reason to a see a long recovery is the daily devaluation of the dollar. In the last few years it has devalued 25% and that is crucial to inflation and cost of living. That means imports have risen 25% in cost before it even hits the shelves. We are are too dependent on imports and have no industry to combat this type of inflation.
When the government got involved "managing" the economy in the 1930', it took a world war to fix it.
Forty-two years ago, a wise Geology teacher once told my class, "The economy is bigger than the government".
