So sad. My son was at the candle lite vigal. He is the same age as this young soldier. His girl friend went to school with Jordan. She said he was just a great guy and would do anything for anyone. God bless the whole family. RIP Jordan you are a true Hero.
Savannah - teach your son about his father's beautiful soul and his willingness to help others, even by laying down his own life for another. You made a great choice in a husband.
May God be with you at this time. My heart goes out to you and the rest of the family.
We either need to fight this war like they did in WWII, no allowances for PC, or get out. Since we aren't going to fight this war to win lets come home.
In the Parade magazine, the ?World's Smartest Woman" said that a true hero is one who will give up his/her life for another. We, in our country, misuse the word "hero". We call teachers heroes (and they do have incredibly important jobs), we call doctors heroes (and they are, but they do not put their lives at high risk). But, the riskiest job is a combat soldier on the front-line who is giving his/her talents to our country for freedom.
Jordan is a hero.
Savanna may God be with you and your precious son as you move forward. You both will see him again someday, but until then I know it will be hard, but know that Jordan's sacrifice is deeply, deeply appreciated by those of us who enjoy freedom in this nation. He died for a cause I and my family certainly am grateful for. When I do simple things like telling stories to my little kids at night I literally think of men like Jordan than make it possible. Your sacrifice, and his will not be forgotten. Your beautiful son has a great, lifelong example of a wonderful dad in Jordan. Bless you, you are in our prayers.
Jordan Byrd, like every soldier we lose on the battlefield, is a true American hero. I will grieve with and for his family.
So sorry for your loss. It is such a worry when a loved one is in the military. My son is right now at Basic Training at Ft. Benning, George, in the infantry, and his wife and kids are staying with us for now. It's highly likely he will end up in combat at some time. I hope not, but that possibility is certainly there.
PFC Byrd entered the military with the most honorable intentions...to help others, and to gain and education to become a Dr. and continue helping others. Although he is no longer in your presence, please know that he is indeed helping others in a different way. May God bless his family with comfort, peace and strength of spirit at this very difficult time.
Thank you, PFC Byrd.
May his family find peace and comfort at this time, I am so very sorry for their loss. Jordan is the truest of all heroes!
I'm so sorry for his family, but with the Rules of Engagement, he won't be the last for nothing.
