Too bad Hill is gone, but hopefully the Cougars can get someone better to replace him. I wonder how long Anae will last.

Cedar Hills, UT

I don't know if I agree with letting him go. Is it really his fault because of the youth and injuries to this team. BYU fans need to start looking at this more realistic and relax. Ute fans need to go away!

I thought Hill did a very good job over the years. Good luck coach in the future and thanks for the good years. Having played under Schmidt, I think there are many other areas that also need attention.

I'm really sorry to see this. I just watched a tape of the game with Utah State and there is plenty of blame to go around. Nobody is clicking on all calendars and certainly key injuries have played a part.

West Jordan, UT

Hmm...feels like a knee jerk reaction to a bad start. I hate to see anyone lose their jobs based on a partial season, especially when they have been successsful in the past. On the other BYU looks really inept, but on both sides of the ball.

Jeez, what next?? the wheels have come off this program. Starting to feel like the Croatan (however you spell that) years all over again. Hey maybe we can get Mike Leach!!HAHA

How about revamping the recruiting standards? There are many very talented athletes outside of Timpview that could also contribute to the Y.

Phoenix, Arizona

This is a shame. No assistant coach should ever lose his job in the middle of the season. This is just treating the symptom and not the cause of the Cougars problems. Has this happened before with BYU assistant coaches? Just curious.

What about the OC?

Provo, UT

Can coaches fire players? Ashworth gives up and drops balls.

Sandy, UT

Bronko talked about the problems in special teams. Special teams stunk. How can he fault the defence without faulting himself for the poor play on special teams. He is the special team coach. Now we have coach Hill taking the accountability that belongs to Bronko.

Bay Area, CA

Averaging less than 16 pts a game and they can the defensive coordinator? When has defense been a priority?

Murray, UT

Robert Anae should be next. The most predictable offense on the planet. Hill was even better then Anae.

Calvin Ball
Vernal, Utah

How does Robert Anae still have a job? Nevermind a freshman QB. He is the most predictable play caller ever. Why does he continually run the ball on third down in the first half? Anae should have been let go years ago.

Provo, UT

The problem is the offense, not that the defense was stellar but at least the defense held its own in the second half in four of BYU's five games.

It's also too bad that BYU is losing an African-American coach as well. This won't help bring better athletes to BYU.

I think both Hill and Anae have places in BYU's program, perhaps not in their present positions but I would hate to lose either.

Of course, I wish Coach Hill the best, and if doing this, makes his life better, and that of his family, I wish him the best.

The reports are that there was dissension in the ranks. That can't be tolerated - especially from a coach.

This story showed up in my inbox as breaking news. I subscribe to breaking news to get notices of imported events, like the trade center attacks, local government events, life changing wildfires. How does anything having to do with BYU football rise to that level?

Herriman, UT

Pretty stupid to do it right now in my opinion.

Springville, UT

Everybody's assuming it's because of the Y's poor performance over the last several games. The reasons could be something totally different.

Ann Arbor, MI

As mentioned earlier, your treating the symptoms and not the root problem - Bronco.

Should have kept them all until the end of the season and then make a whole sale change.
