Wow this is a great idea. I still need to sign up to vote by mail! It's good to see the republicans in this valley finally step it up.
This is the year that Republicans take back Salt Lake County. Now we need to stop the electioneering that goes on in the Clerk's office by putting the Democrats at the top of every ballot, thus guaranteeing that they get a 3-5% advantage in the election. The Clerk's office should be non-partisan, but it anything but.
What a great idea to get your ballot early so you can decide who the best school board candidate is, or whether or not you are going to allow a city to bond.
The SLco GOP has several great new candidates running this year that would be an improvement over some of the incumbent democrats. The GOP even replaced some incumbents with new people running.
I am looking forward to seeing the new candidates win. I hope work done to increase the vote by mail does get more voters out.
It's Great to see the GOP getting more organized. Bringing the ballot to more people can only be good. The County Republican party definitely has the right idea. Hopefully this cycle more people will see what scoundrels the Dems in this county are. Corroon is doing a great job of pointing that out for them. He couldn't beat Nancy Workman on issues so he had his Friend Yocum bring her up on Outrageous charges (that were dropped after the election) to create a Non-existent "Scandal" now he's trying to do the same thing to the Governer, create a non-existent Scandal. How low can he go?
Yeah, let's squash any balance that exists in State politics. I guess total domination is what is needed.
Glad to hear Vote by Mail is catching on. Kudos to the GOP for helping busy Republicans. It's really helped me to get my complete ballot weeks in advance of the election. I can either choose to vote right away or if life and work have been too busy to study the candidates and issues sooner, I have time to study out my votes before I cast my ballot. I love the convenience of being able to drop off the ballot at any polling location completed or being able to surrender it and vote on the machines. Keep up the great work!
I applaud any effort to increase Utah's shamefully low voter turnout. Kudos to the Salt Lake County Republican Party!
THIS is the kind of Republican Party we've been hoping for! This current administration has done a fabulous job of joining forces with tea party and grassroots folks to make sure the conservative, liberty-loving voices are heard. A new day is about to dawn for Salt Lake County and I can't wait!
Vote by Mail is a wonderful opportunity. It provides the voter the opportunity to research and identify the best candidate instead of the one on top of the ballot or the one with the most signs. You can now take up to two weeks to search for information about the candidates while the ballot is in front of you. More informed voters mean better representation and better government.

Thomas Wright should get all the credit for pushing this through. When others in the party, including candidates that will win due to this, were not very supportive, Thomas went out and made it happen. Looking forward to mailing in my ballot this year!
Coming from someone who has been out walking for weeks with Vote by Mail forms, I can say how much I appreciate the enthusiasm from my fellow Republicans when they have the program explained to them. My family and I voted by mail in the primaries, and we just loved it! The good thing about receiving your ballot in the mail is that if something comes up and you can't make it to the poll, all you have to do is mail it in and your vote can still be counted!
For those of you(and there are many)who feel it their patriotic duty to go to the poll on election day,you can STILL do that and take your ballot with you. This saves time in line which is something we can all do without. I want to take this opportunity to thank all those that signed my forms and welcomed me at their front doors(including their dogs), that have helped me to be successful in this adventure. Not only have I made friends going door to door, but I've been able to get some much needed exercise as well in the process!
Coming from someone who has been out walking with vote by mail forms for weeks, I think we will see a better voter turn out come November. This is a great program for the elderly and gives you the opportunity to vote by mail in the event you can't make it to the polls. The response has been enthusiastic from the public, and it is sure to affect the outcome of this upcoming election!
I think that this effort by the Salt Lake City Republicans is very wise and a program that should be copied by others across the nation. If a voter is serious about the democratic process and otherwise not able to make it to the polls, they will be happy to have an opportunity to vote by mail. Mr. Wright should be commended for what he is doing.
Thank you GOP for finally closing the gap on early voting. When Republican candidates often trail at the beginning by 1/3 of the early voting, then go on to win by a landslide... something is wrong.
But what do you expect with a Democrat holding the county seat responsible for watching over the elections. My personal experience has identified partisan politics in that county seat. I am voting for Jeremy Votaw this year.
Philosophically I oppose vote by mail as an opportunity ripe for fraudulent registration and voting, and primarily used in areas known for crooked democrat politicians (like Illinois).
Also, voting is important enough that it should be done in person, and take precedence over anything else a person has planned for election day. Exceptions only for absentee balloting by military and those actually out of town or physically unable to reach the polling place.
However, since we have it, let's get every legal Republican vote counted that we can.
Vote early. (And vote often?)
Kudos to Thomas Wright for organizing this!
I've voted by mail for the past several elections, as have the other members of my household. It makes for a meaningful family activity: parents and adult children sitting down together to discuss the issues and the candidates to be voted for. Actually, I encouraged ALL of my relatives living in the Salt Lake County to get signed up to vote by mail.
We accessed the application to vote by mail online. Don't know why more haven't done it. The convenience factor is high. The ballot comes three weeks before the election, giving one time to get educated on the lesser known races. It does not surprise me that the voting percentage is higher for those who are registered to vote by mail.
Adain, kudos to Thomas Wright and all those who have helped him with this drive! His enthusiasm for this was in display at the County Convention, which he also did an excellent job organizing and running. This guy is a doer and a go-getter, and provides great leadership for Salt Lake County Republicans.
I'm with "thefid"...vote Sherrie Swensen out!
Ron (Hilton), you wrote: "I applaud any effort to increase Utah's shamefully low voter turnout. Kudos to the Salt Lake County Republican Party!"
From the article: "We've been outworked and out-organized," said Wright," (Chairman of the Salt Lake County Republican Party) "who admits that he's copying the competition.
"Salt Lake County Democrats began such a program a few years ago, and continue to make the push."
You seem to imply, Ron, that this (early voting by mail) is a Republican initiative. Just wanted to point out that the Democratic Party has already been doing this for "a few years" before the Republican Party decided to "copy the competition."
