Governor Herbert shows up at the Dew Tour treating it like the greatest economic development event ever to occur in Utah but when he attended the presser for the PAC 10 invitation to Utah all he could say was that it was about time the tax payers in Utah got something back for their investment in the University of Utah. What? The Governor doesn't know that the State only funds about 10% of what goes on at the University? That the University of Utah truly is the economic engine of this State? That it is second only to MIT in the amount of private business it spins off from research activities? That the PAC 10 affiliation brings more exposure and fan visits to the State? The athletic director of Colorado just reported to his Board of Trustees this week that donations to the University of Colorado are up 400% from alums in California since the announcement was made that Colorado was joining the PAC 10. I am sorry the Governor made light of Utah's invitation to the PAC 10, he is afterall a Utah County resident. At least he attended the presser.
