This is one way to add a lot of cash funds to city budgets. That's $1500-$2000+ a pop per ticket. Whether they convict them or jail the accused that's a lot of cash infusion to the cities. It's justification to recycle the hardcore DUI's because it's another cash incentive to keep them on the loose.

What's really criminal about these stings, is the drug users get off on a reckless driving ticket, not a DUI ticket.

Recently there has been too many stings just as fund raisers. It doesn't take much to accuse someone of a DUI and whether guilty of not, it still cost the $2000 the cities get. Using traffic violations to raise funds for city spending is a little beyond reasonable and its always for drinking, the most generous and profitable money making crime. Drivers don't even have to be guilty, just accused to get the $2000 a head fine.

Is this the proper use of law enforcement? Levying fines and threats of jail to raise city funds?
