I thank his family for the gentle dignity with which they 'accepted' a most difficult situation. Everyday that one of our loved ones goes to work in body armour is a difficult one. With two sons in Iraq and one in the police force, I can appreciate only a bit what this family is suffering and my tears join theirs. You have reminded me...again... that the opportunity to say "I love you" is not an arranged one. We must show that love on every occasion we can. God bless you.
As one of those delayed by the traffic, pulled off the side of the road, my trip was stretched by more than 2 hours. The inconvenience was many times over compensated by the chance to have a glimpse of the funeral procession and to wave at the hundreds of police officers who were honoring their fallen brother. I am so very thankful that we have police officers who are willing to sacrifice for our cities and towns. We ought to do more to show our appreciation.
God bless Mrs. Harris and her two daughters and all of the officers at the Kane County Sheriff.
What a tragic loss of life, yet I echo the words of so many others, that I am grateful for brave individuals who serve & protect us. A very touching display of love and gratitude by his community, family, and friends; I am sure he is grateful himself. I hope and pray for peace to be given to his family during the hours, days, weeks, and years ahead. I also pray that senseless acts of violence will end someday--this world has gone crazy with such little respect for life.
may God bless his family. Our prayers go out to them. May officer Harris rest in peace.
