Utes everywhere are excited about this defense!
This will probably be Dion's worst performance of the year. If you watched the game, you know he is an elite back headed for the NFL, but the utes tackled by committee and the Defense played as one.
Defense is what brought us two BCS wins in the past, lets see where it takes us this year.
Very excited about this team.
Go Utes!
@wwookie
What you said! This could be a great year.
Go Utes!
You said it wwookie. What I learned last night is that this Defense is going to be "Nasty" all year long.
I would add that the Offense showed good balance, but I was a little surprised we did not run the ball a little more. I would have liked to see Wide with around 15 carries along with Asiata. Overall, we stopped ourselves at times on offense, but I think that can be expected in an opening game. I am looking forward to game 2 against the Rebels next Saturday.
Gotta be honest. As a BYU fan I was very impressed with the Ute Defense. They play great together and gave Pitt a very tough game. There were a couple miscues that resulted in PITT scores, but I expect this to be one of the best defenses ever at Utah. However, I was unimpressed with Wynn, He showed again that he is mediocre under pressure, (overthrowing open receivers, making bad passes when blitzed) But he did a great job getting the ball to his play makers and exposing Pitts weakness on defense. I still think Cain is the better QB, but oh well. Utah will definitely be a force to contend with this season. Now lets see how BYU does Saturday!
Go Cougs!
and.... GO UTES!
While I hope the defense is as good as they looked, I feel that we did not get a chance to see how they would preform against a team that has an experienced quarterback and is willing to take shots down the field and spread the defense. Pitt was pretty one dimensional offensively and that makes it easier to defend against. However that was a great win against a ranked team. Lets keep it going Utes.
