Who are these socialists helping out someone in need? What's this country coming to?

Ethel

I was not aware of Heart to Home organization. This sounds like a "Love Thy Neighbor," kind of group. My heart was touched by those who brought this project together for this deserving family and this little girl. Blessings to all of you for your charitable and caring organization. This article made MY day. Thank you.

Wow what a great story! Its good to know that there are people out there willing to sacrifice in order to better the lives of others. Best of luck to the Gleason family, you have a beautiful little girl!

Socialists force others to help. Capitalism allows caring volunteers to choose whom to help and when. God bless those who volunteer for deserving families like this one.

Yeah, it's SO BAD when we, as a nation, help others.

The reason we should do it collectively?
So it's fair.

Right now, Utahns are complaining about medical care for UNBORN CHILDREN (because one or both parents are illegal).

We "socialists" ask "What would Jesus do" and decide that if the UNBORN are sacred, then the color of their skin wouldn't matter.

You know you wouldn't help, if the UNBORN was "illegal". You want to change its status, to make sure you don't help.

I am with you, Spreading the News! Thank you for the clarification. It never occurred to me that it was even remotely socialistic. Great comment.

To "xscribe | 7:36 a.m." were you taxed to pay for this service? If not, then it was philanthropists, not socialists that did this.

Had it been socialists, the government would have a program and taxes specifically for this tax.

So, please name the government agency that performed this service. If you can't, then that means it was philanthropists who did this.

@RedShirt: Apparently you misread my sarcasm, as in many other posts on many other topics, people rant on as to how we are becoming a socialist country, when, in fact, there is nothing, not one thing, that this current administration has done so far that can be considered socialist.

However, more people doing more philanthropic work like this to help others would be a nice thing to see in this country.

RedShirt

To "xscribe | 1:19 p.m. " sorry about that. Sarcasm is difficult to put into words, unless it is highly sarcastic.

But, since you bring it up, there are many things that this administration has done which could be considered socialist, here are a few:

Purchasing a controlling share of GM (socialism is the government ownership of the means of production).

Forcing banks to take bailout money, then because of the strings attached, effectively control the banks.

Setting up insurance exchanges, and insurance grant programs that are designed to redistribute wealth.

Those are just 3 of the biggest examples.

Reasonable Person

RedShirt:

The bank bailout was under the Bush administration, not Obama's.

Bailing out GM and Chrysler saved millions of jobs (not just at GM, but at parts manufacturers, dealerships, and in the general economy). Both are now becoming profitable, and will repay the money.

As for health insurance reform: ask Rep Wimmer about how WE ALL PAID for his brother's illness, because his brother refused to get health insurance.

You're not one of those "Obama is a socialist who's going to take away my Social Security", are you?

Big thanks to Heart to Home for their donation, especially in these tough economic times. And all my best to the Gleasons. My family & I will be there to do what we can to help. God bless!
