This tragedy reminds me of what the early Saints went through when Joseph and Hyrum were senselessly murdered. Great things will come from this terrible event. I pray all involved will have peace and understanding until they see him again and begin to see the Lord's hand and the tremendous blessings that await all of them.
A tragedy, to be sure. But the article states the obvious. He was a Bishop. I hope he was close to the Gospel.
Sounds like a great man, I'm sure he will be sorely missed...what a senseless crime/tragedy.
I'm glad that he was close to the gospel...that is probably why he was so remarkable. A person who did so many things right. I'm still shocked and dismayed that this happened. I pray his wife can carry this tremendous load now. God bless them.
What a tremendous loss to us all. We pray fervently for the family. Can anyone tell me how we can safely and securely make a donation to assist the family through the times ahead? His wife has an enormous financial load ahead of her in order to raise six sons (I know because I have three sons and seven daughters). While I am sure there are many close to them who will step up to the plate and assist, there are also many of us far off who are willing to do the same. We just don't know where or how.
A tragic crime condlonces to his wife Julie and thier children..takecare~
In memory of Young man Bishop ClaySannar of LDS ward CAlifornia-SLC
Dear Sister Julie Sannar and Precious Sons:
You are a beautiful family. Thank you for sharing these tender photograph’s with the world, and for the public invitation to attend Bishop Clay Sannar’s funeral this Friday. After Bishop’s death, I was saddened for several day’s because I have two young son’s of my own and we feel the intense sorrow of living apart from each other, whereas you and your sons pain could be magnified a thousand-fold, since death separates you until you meet again. I thumbed through my mission pictures recently and Bishop Clay’s father Ron was my Gridley Ward mission leader in 1987 and you interviewed me for the Gridley High School newspaper. I have high regards for the noble sacrifice(s) your family has contributed for the world and pray that Heavenly Father will continue to bless your family during this difficult time with peace, love and knowledge that through Jesus Christ’s Resurrection, families can be together forever. I know Bishops funeral will be extra special. “Families Are Forever.”
Love especially to you, your six sons, and families.
From the Fanene’s in California, Minnesota, and American Samoa.
Hopefully the Sannar family can feel the prayers and love being sent in their behalf by thousands...if not millions. God bless...
This story doesn't get any easier to read. So sad, so senseless.
What a great loss to his family, friends and community. My heartfelt thots and prayers go out to his family. May you always feel of his love and concern for you !!
I sure hope folks who have guns learn to keep both guns and ammo locked securely in seperate stores and inaccessable to deranged individuals. The guy could have obtained one from a sporting goods store but, that would be costly and involve a background check. That is for the politicians. One of the saddest storys I ever read.
The only thing that helps me to understand these types of things is what we have been taught by our General Authority Church Leaders in Salt Lake City. The Lord permitted this evil man to do his terrible deed because this Bishop's time to die had come & the lord permitted it to happen this way to give the murderer the FREE AGENCY to do his deed. He will suffer & this Bishop is in the Spirit Paradise doing the Lord's work where he can not be stopped now. :) I am so very thankful to KNOW these TRUTHS! :)
My prayers are that this sister & her children will now be watched over by the Church & never be without.
Brother Smith and I send our deepest condolences, and will light a candle for this family.
I am more devastated and saddened by this tragedy than I would have expected. I guess maybe because I can picture the incident so vividly, and it happened where we have always felt safe and would never imagine such a thing could happen. I am so grateful this man did not go on a rampage through the ward killing other members and holding hostages- it could have easily been even more horrific than it was. My heart aches for his family, especially his children, his ward, all who knew him for the loss of this beloved man. I can't imagine what those who witnessed this are going through. I just don't know what else to say. Its times like this when free agency is hard to understand.
