Supposed good news still brings out the haters.

Nothing short of total Hispanic eradication will please the racist conservatives.

RRB

Brian H, I have Latino relatives, I speak Spanish.

Two of them told me (Mexico) they are both hanging on, waiting for amnesty. The third use to get the police called on them several times a month until their kids left home. Police have told the neighbors they are here illegally and there is nothing they can do about it.

Did that answer your question?

tenx

How do we force the Feds to enforce the laws? Someone is lying when they swear on the Bible to enforce and uphold the laws of the land. Recycle them in November.

To "Christy | 1:10 p.m." why are you throwing down the racist card. Don't you know that people are tired of it, and it has no effect?

Name one person who has advocated the eradication of Hispanics. All that as been written about so far is that people want to stop illegal immigration.

So, please tell us, what does an illegal immigrant look like?

You sound like you may have some race issues because you assume that all illegals are hispanic in origin.

Pagan | 1:53 p.m. Sept. 1, 2010 on record number of illegals deported.
'Remove those being caught at or near the border, and immedialty released just to return again with-in hours and you matbe would understand that the numbers reported as ‘deported’ are grossly inflated.'

So, your saying you have no evidence to support that those numbers are 'grossly inflated...'

correct?

"To "Christy | 1:10 p.m." why are you throwing down the racist card. Don't you know that people are tired of it, and it has no effect?"

If you say daily you aren't a racist, it magical makes you not a racist?

What does the KKK, the white power movement and the Christian identity movements have in common. They are all conservative.

We saw the race card in Uta where illegal is illegal unless your are white breaking the law to rat out Hispanics.

Daily we see if a crime is reported and race isn't mentioned there will be many conservative comments that the criminal was an illegal, meaning a Mexican.

Nixon said he wasn't a crook too. He was an conservative who added Watergate to our language.

Not_Scared

This is from David Duke a former Clansman.

"Duke: Tea Party people are called racist because the vast majority wants to stop the massive non-European immigration that will turn America into a crumbling tower of Babel. Most Tea Partiers believe that we in America have the right to preserve our heritage, language, and culture, just as every nation has that human right. The vast majority of Tea Party activists oppose affirmative action and diversity, which are nothing more than programs of racist discrimination against white people. The vast majority of Tea Party enthusiasts despise Hollywood and the mass media."

TO "Not_Scared | 2:14 p.m." so does calling somebody a racist make them a racist?

Once again, you only read half the story. The people who were involved with supplying the list of hispanics have been delt with according to the law. That story was overshadowed by the list itself. Those workers are currently suspended from work and criminal charges are being made. (See "State Suspends Workers Who Identified Illegal Aliens" at Family Security Matters).

So, can you tell us what an illegal immigrant looks like?

Christy

Redshirt,

From the article:

"The study said that in 2009 about 60 percent of the nation's illegal immigrants came from Mexico, or 6.7 million people. Other Latin American countries accounted for 20 percent, or 2.2 million people. Asia accounted for 11 percent, or 1.2 million people."

It's not Asians jumping that fence. It's not Asians who BYU Alum's wife is teaching in ESL. It's not Asian families who are hunkering down from their nosy neighbors.

Do NOT pretend that this isn't about Hispanics and racism against them. This is the Repubs most favorite thing to do - be racist, and when someone calls you on it, you accuse THEM of being racist. You guy really need to take that out of your play book. You're not fooling anyone.

They are the one's removing the heads from bodies. According to Az. Gov. Jan Brewer.
Quote:
'"Our law enforcement agencies have found bodies in the desert either buried or just lying out there that have been beheaded," - 07/11/10

She could not answer that question herself, when presented with the question. You can even look it up. It was the day she signed the immigration law that was struck down later by court.

@ Joe Blow:

Where were all the Immigration Hawks during the Bush Administration?

I was writing "Enforce Immigration Laws" on every fundraising letter I received from the Republican Party, that's where I was. I finally changed my registration to Independent. So no, I don't believe I quietly stood by and supported Bush Amnesty.

It makes absolutely no difference to me who is in power. I hold both parties to the same standard. Try it yourself sometime.

Seriously? Grow up dude.

This is good news. The less immigrants coming the better. That being said i still don't think it's a good idea to throw families with children out of our country. Secure the border but please don't waste time and resources trying to chase down good people trying to make a better life for their posterity.

Brer Rabbit

Is this an example of the New Deseret News reporting. Here they use pretty much off the wall 2009 information from the Pew Hispanic Center, but fail to report the 2010 FAIR Report that the cost for Utahn taxpayers to support illegal aliens and their employers is estimated at $453 million. You say, well FAIR has an ax to grind, but the Pew Hispanic Center is also grinding their ax.

I don't think anyone, including those in the comments above has seen any decline in Utah. If it were possible, the best evidence of a decline would be a check of the enrollment in the Utah LDS Spanish speaking wards and branches, but that is not the case since we see the number of Spanish speaking wards increasing. Likely more than half of these wards would be illegal.

However, the increasing number of LDS Spanish speaking wards/branches may be due to the availability of LDS welfare support, in the form of money, food, and clothing.
