Some things should be left alone China is 1.
When they agreed to let Goggle in Two things where Filtered Out, Porn and Religion.
Religion is counter to the Communist Way of life. Not the plenty of people in China have Religion, many do. Some yours and mine, some other Paths such as Zen.
Of course the Fundamentalist want in to "Save Souls" and Jesus will Not come back until everyone has the "Word."
As the Middle Class expands in China and China 1 becomes an interprovince reality. The urge and need for Religion becomes more of Reality as the idea of "is that all there is becomes inplanted then lets keep on Dancing become more of reality."
Things are taken in Small Steps.
When they let "Goggle" in, salt water in the eyes was filtered out, too!
(-;
(I'm totally confident that President Monson knows EXACTLY what he's doing? Know what I mean? This is fantastic news... and a small step.)
Awesomeron, I haven't a clue what you're trying to get across, but suffice to say that the LDS church, as a nonpolitical entity, has no interest in communism or capitalism, nor usurping any kind of authority from the Chinese government. As their doctrine says, "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." That extends to countries very different from the U.S. and supercedes any perceived political interests within Utah.
Wow, that is so fantastic! I love the church and how by small and simple things are great things come to pass. Amazing!
"No, this had nothing to do with Jon Huntsman Jr. No U.S. government officials or diplomats were involved."
I believe this statement to be absolutely true but officials of the Chinese Government obviously know who Jon Huntsman Jr. is and what religion he belongs to and what that religion stands for. This is great news.
awsomeron1:
You really need to learn how to type. It is useful to communicate in complete sentences.
Formal recognition of the religion and ability to hold public meetings is a HUGE step, not just a small one. So it means nothing, yet, concerning missionary work, but it's still a very important step in that process.
This is ridiculous, the Chinese are a wonderful people, and a wonderful country! Communism is on it's way out in the "OLD FORM" and it will be replaced one day by the "New Communism" of Capitalism and a lot of freedoms, and it won't even be recognized as "Communism"! China will lead in that change as it has over the past 40 years! It is a changing country and it is still changing! Religion, particularly the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been seen as a wonderful thing by China's rulers! It lifts, and it dedicates people! The Countries leaders know that by being a "Part" of it, they will have "Friends", and they will become a great power! Don't think they don't see WHY the U.S. was created, why it became a super power, and why it is decaying so quickly! "Asians" are VERY INTELLIGENT PEOPLE! As our nations turns from God, they will draw nearer, and that will help them over run our country! Pray!!! Pray!!! And Draw Nearer To God Before It Is Too Late!!! The Gospel Will Prevail above all!!! It's God's Plan!
Cool story.
Mormons rate Obama Lowest.
Curse that President Obama!!
I'm sure his selcetion of Abassador Jon Hunstman had nothing to do with this!!.... (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
You right wing nut-cakes need to snap out of it.
Can't you see the goodness that comes once you drop your constant blind hatred?
This is great news. Way cool.
CougarKeith, you're more coherent than awsomeron1, but not enough that I can understand whatever it is you're trying to say. Please go pick up an MLA Handbook and review the rules of capitalization (e.g., don't capitalize every word in a sentence) and punctuation (e.g., when to use quotation marks) so that we can benefit from your thoughts.
Having lived in Beijing and attended the expat branch there I am wondinging if regularizing our relationship means the Chinese saints and the expats can meet together. We were barred from having any, ANY contact with them. I hope that will go away.
As to the Chinese government becoming more open, or more welcoming to change and adapting a less authoritarian stance, I think you will find they only do what they have to. They concede small steps because it is in their best interests, or it hurts them the least of several choices. They were very shaken when Tian An Men went down and while this is a relaxation of grip I wait to see how it plays out long-term.
I do trust in the leadership of the Church and believe they are led by God. What I am not enamored with is the Chinese government.
I would love it Deseret News would filter comments like the Trib.
1. Off topic
2. Personal attack
3. not appropriate
it would help -- then i read comments about LDS Church in China and not have to wade through so much other "stuff".
Chachi: Amen to your comments. Too much bold, too many exclamation marks, and all caps are annoying and a turnoff. I don't give much credibility to those posts.
Awesomeron1: I actually thought your comments were written by someone foreign to the English language. But then I assume your name is Ron and that makes me think you're english speaking. If we are going to benefit from your thoughts we need to understand them. I for one could not.
CougarKeith: Your thoughts seemed interesting but your overuse of caps, exclamation marks, and so forth have the effect of coming from a frenzied mind-- something I don't think you want. It takes away from any credibility you might have had.
Having been to China recently and seen the separation of congregations (they couldn't even see each other between meetings-- no intermingling of ex-patriates and nationals whatsoever). I suppose that means that congregations of nationals and expatriates can have co-mingled congregations but still no proselytizing. No missionaries, but does that mean that nationals can't talk with other nationals about their faith? Awesome development though.
@KayBob
Really you get online to be an typist critic...WOW....Get a LIFE...
It is incredible that this story is about the Church, and we have all the English teachers out in mass to scrutinize the posts. Please let's get to the story not the other posters mistakes. Please go ahead and judge this one too.
How do the ultra-conservative feel about more and more "Mormons" being Communists.
That's not going to go over very well amongst some.
They are still in total denial about Mormons who are Socialists.
