we have seat belts laws in this country. this is neglect on the part of the mother and the driver of this vehicle. they both need to face the court and be prosecuted.

I totally agree. Children need responsible adults to protect them and when irresponsibility costs them their life, then the adults need to be held responsible. If the driver urged them to be belted in and she refused, then he shouldn't be held responsible, but the mother definitely needs prosecution. Please don't tell me that she has suffered enough, losing her child. If irresponsible parents were prosecuted for their stupidity, we'd see a whole lot more responsible parents. A clear message needs to be sent and prosecution is one way of getting it across.

It is sad when irresponsible adults cause their child's life. It's your duty to give your child a chance to grow to adulthood instead of killing them because of our stupidity......

Is not the loss of a child punishment enough? I can think of nothing the court can do to make the out come worse. The child is gone and the Mother will despise herself for the rest of her life.

Please, if we were to prosecute for stupidity we, (including you), would have to stand in line and await conviction. Choose the road of vengeance and justice if you will. I prefer mercy because that is the only remedy for stupidity. Let's help the grieving family instead of pushing them closer to the hell they are currently living.
