Does distract your focus on your driving skills
so much you'll need to stop and pay more attention

Distracted driving and fines should rank with DUI driving. Distractions while driving mean you are not in control of the vehicle mentally or physically. This test may be an eyeopener for some but will it really register as the hazard it is?

The safest and best way to control cell phone use in an operating vehicle is a manufacture built in cell phone jammer, a minor cost. They can block the use of cell phones in operating (engine running) vehicles. Just as there are devices that prevent someone drunk from starting a vehicle, they can also block the use of cell phones and distracted driving, the new number one killer in vehicle deaths.

The faster you are going and the greater the distance you will travel out of control. Often times distracted drivers will ride their brakes and lose their eye to hand and foot coordination. It will be much slower than a attentive driver who must go from gas pedal to brake pedal, 3/4 of a second.

In Layton, I see it all the time. I wonder why the cops don't pull more people over for it, cuz if you stand at an intersection for more than a few minutes you'll undoubtedly see someone doing it.

a recent usa today article discussing the problems with unmarked police cars and impersonators suggests that to avoid possible assualts and/or robberies one should continue to drive to a public place and use ones cell phone to call 911 to confirm it really is a cop---funny isn't it
