As you said in article ....
A portion ought to be dedicated toward maintenance. We can't just build capacity projects all the time."
.....
AMEN and don't increase taxes or take from other activities. We should really take a hard look at cost vs. maintenance needs before building any more for awhile
Don't we have a Utah mint? Why can't we print our own money, just like the Feds do?
Meanwhile our state and local governments, made up largely of builders, realtors, and other development special interests will continue to steer public funds into building new roads rather than maintaining old ones, making their developments more profitable.
Why worry about the already developed? There's no money to be made there.
I hate road construction... and potholes... and having to wait... so as long as the roads are good whereever I drive, I'm okay with UDOT.
I have new tires and not too bad of a ride..
takes me places+ but those potholes!
metal plates sometimes are annoying correct focus on road`
Construction we have Alot here in the city of Salt
Do take care Drive with care :)
need maintenance money? how bout getting all those road construction guys working rather than standing around talking too much? I have seen some 6 guys standing around just talking too much and their laughing around? Sometime a dozen guys - why pay them for more when young kids need education even more. My wife sometime have to stay after work just getting paper stuff done.
Does he know how ridiculous he sounds? You can't drive more than a half mile on any road in the valley without running in to maintenance crews working or standing along the roads. When is enough, enough? How far does he want to bankrupt the state budget?
I think it's time the Governor make some changes in the appointed department heads of state agency's. Start with UDOT and the DWS, the two most costly and absurd and wasteful departments. They have been to used to unlimited funds for too long and it time to put some people in position that understand what a recession is, willing to work with their budgets. The fringe benefits and reckless spending of UDOT and DWS must have leaders who sift out priority's and work within the law.
