I hope they have the opportunity to kick many extra points this season. Hey cougar fans, can you think of the last time a BYU kicker won a game since Kurt Gunther in the miracle bowl? I would especially like to know who has won a game with a field goal.

Ethan Pochman in the 1996 WAC Championship game against Wyoming. He also kicked the game tying field goal at the end of regulation.

I am sure that Stephenson was shocked and somewhat unprepared when the returning starter got injured.

Stephenson was a solid kicker in high school but undoubtedly worked on his punting rather than PATs this summer.

The kicking game will be VERY IMPORTANT this year. This situation emphasizes the importance of constant preparation.

Just look at this picture, Riley is leaning back too far. There is a really good kicking coach in the Ogden area that coached at Snow in '03. He can help.

What happened to Justin Sorensen? I remember a couple of years ago seeing his recruiting youtube video of him blasting 50 yard field goals off the grass in high school.

What happened to that outstanding kicker from Bingham High that they recruited? Sorenson, I think. Is he on a mission?

A kicker with a sprained ankle? Good grief, get out there and kick. And is there nobody on staff, or Payne, who can teach Stephenson how to get some elevation on his kicks?

How about a loss by a field goal? BYU lost to Utah 20-17 in 1999. Owen Pochman had missed a FG from 38 early in the 4th.

This article gives me so much confidence in Coach Borcno and BYU. What great leadership to ask his players if any of them had experience as a kicker in high school. Truly the coach of the year.

Seems like, by now, we should know who our kicker is, shouldn't we?

Coach Borcno also asked his player if any of them had real experience as a running back in high school.

Looks like the house of cards is finally falling down.

Re: TDS Fan and Hog

For such a poor coach he seems to have done ok.

BTW, what is Utah's record against BYU over the last couple of years? Oh, yeah...1-3. Way to go guys, 25% is a "pass" up on the hill!

The Real Hedgehog

Just a sign of the great recruiting by TDS coach Bronk. "Whoops! We forgot to get a kicker!"

What about Orem High product Nathan Killpack? Nathan red-shirted with the team in 2007 after being invited to try out as a preferred walk-on, but then left on a mission after the 2007 season. He has been back from his mission since January.

If they can't even kick PAT's - WOW - should be a fun season to watch for Ute fans. My dream season would be a 13-0 for Utah and an 0-12 for tds. Realistically though I think I might get a 6-6 for tds this year.

Give Stephenson a day or two to practice.. He's a punter now and probably hasnt practiced in a while, but I'm sure he'll be fine.. I watched him kick A LOT of pat's against us in high school so I doubt it will be too tough for him with a little tune-up..

Yikes!! Another hedgehog? And they have the same attitude. Any hog busters out there? Why wait till November to silence them. They'll be in the Pitt in a few weeks.

Mark my words!---The utes will never win a pac-10 championship!

Max for President

Hedgehog, let the U beat BYU at anything and then talk. We whipped you guys twice in basketball, in football, and basically everything else. (no one really considers women's gymnastics, chess or bad-gammon a sport, so spare me your rebuttal)

Utah Fan2

No worries.

With Heaps' pinpoint passing and Nelson's running, BYU will just score two-point conversions after every touchdown.

The ewe does have worries though.

After losing to Pitt, the season will be over for the ewe.

Five losses in their last six games will have the ewe looking for someone to replace Whit right after he loses his 4th game in 5 years to Bronco.

Utah losses: Pitt, Wyo, AFA, TCU, ND, and BYU.

If the ewe doesn't stumble at SDSU, the ewe may still get to lose to Fresno State in the New Mexico bowl, but at least ewe won't have to play in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Max for President,

You didn't beat the Utes to a BCS conference - now did you.....ouch

....awkward silence..............
