I dislike environmentalist even more now. The Children NEED this complex and Salt and his group have delayed this long enough.

Not only will this be good for our local youth, but Salt Lake City will get additional money as soccer tournaments around the country are played at the complex.

This is more about what adults need than what children need. Politicians need legacies. Cronies need contracts. Soccer parents need grandiose facilities for their kids to play a simple game.

Brave Sir Robin

ryebread has obviously never tried to find practice space for a soccer team. Every square foot of grass in the valley is already being taken by other teams. I've literally had to try to practice with 18 players on a 20' x 20' piece of a field. And forget trying to reschedule a cancelled game - my last six seasons have all ended with at least one less game than scheduled because it's impossible to get fields for make up games.

This complex IS most definitely about the kids....take it from somebody who knows.

Normally, I find myself on the side of environmentalists, but Salt and his group are way off base on this one. The site is currently used as a (very noisy) model airplane park and moto-cross park - something Salt's group conveniently omits when talking about chirping birds and wildlife.

Moreover, this is a classic example of extremists unwilling to submit to democracy. This issue has been voted upon numerous times - and the complex has won out every time. At what point will Salt's group concede that they have lost? What arrogance.

Meanwhile, perhaps Mr. Salt should focus more time on resolving the pending assault charges against him and less on trying to subvert democracy with his costly - and pointless - document requests.
