Now this is the way open land should be preserved. Bought by the group who plans to leave it open to those uses that best suits it and best benefits the majority of those people who will accutally will use it.
A map would have been helpful.
This is rediculous. We're all republicans here so why preserve anything? We need to develope this land to enrich just a couple of people.

Try google maps. If you can work this site, you can work theirs. Took less than a minute to find a map of the canyon.
Right on, Ernest. There is no value in trees and fish. What this state needs is more roads, parking lots and RV parks. Someone should investigate this. It souds like communism to me!
What does the county have to do with a private property owner selling his land to a Utah Open Lands? Why did the county have to give him a deadline? I don't understand the county's role in this.
Ernest and OldRunner, you're attacking a straw person. Conservatives are for property rights. Nobody has any problems with a private property owner preserving his own land. Nobody is calling it communism. A private entity bought private land, and they can do whatever they want with it. Good for them. I still don't understand what the county had to do with anything. Can someone enlighten me?
I was excited to see this news and go hiking in the area. Then I saw the photo of someone walking with un-leashed dogs and decided that I might not want to take my kids there.
Dogs are a big turn off in some of these areas when the owners are not responsible.
