For $9 I can sure by a lot Snickers, Hershey Kisses and the el primo Symphony bars! And don't forget the M&Ms!

I enjoy imported chocolate, in fact I was given some this evening but I can find a lot of satisfaction spending my money on getting quantity and being happy with lesser quality.

Dark chocolate has become a staple in my diet - to the point that any milk chocolate really tastes bad to me now. I wonder if the chocolate that Nick imports contains that nasty ingredient PGPR? I understand it's some kind of petroleum product that is cheaper than butter to add creaminess but that it was created to help crops grow bigger. I'm looking for chocolate SANS that ingredient.

attentive: The valuable purgative known as castor oil is the fixed oil obtained from the seeds of the castor oil plant. I am unsure where you got the information that it was a petroleum product other than the fact that it is smooth. Besides being used medicinally, the oil is also employed for lubricating purposes, burning and for leather dressing. The Chinese are said to have some mode of depriving it of its medicinal properties so as to render it suitable for culinary purposes. I have yet to find anything about it making crops grow bigger (not a hormone) and it has no known adverse side affects. The real problem is that it is a cost cutting measure for chocolate makers.

I wish him luck, but the timing is wrong for a high end chocolate business. Ask Starbucks, they were strong when the economy was strong, now they are trying to survive. I love my Hersey dark nuggets with almonds. By the way what's Godiva chocolate doing they once were every where.

I learned a lot about chocolate from Debi Fields. I remember talking to a choclatier from England and learning why our chocolate is not as good (shortening) and the time it takes to make really good chocolate. I did a taste test and bought a candy bar in the US, carried it to England, bought the same candy bar there and there was no comparison. Yeah for good chocolate coming to Harmons!

It's true, we can not get really good European quality chocolate here in the states. Even the same "brand" is different here. I'm tired of it. It's a national embarrassment! Every German knows they have to bring their own chocolate when they come to the states, and plenty for every American they know here. I think Americans are ready for good quality chocolate. Mormons too. So there.

Go to IKEA, They have good quality Swedish chocolate at a very reasonable price.

Pirate O's has some awesome European chocolate. They have Lindt, but make your way to the Perugina section, as well as some of the other ones there too. The Swedish chocolate bar I tried at IKEA wasn't very good. I found it waxy and bland. In fact, my co-workers that were with me and I started drawing with it like a crayon...

I agree with JoeDakota. This young entrepreneur needs to pay more attention to the premium coffee industry that he is using for a business model. Starbucks is struggling financially while taste tests show that McDonalds has a superior cup of coffee for a third of the price.

Taste tests of premium chocolate have also proven to be very revealing. Years ago a leading consumer magazine did a blind taste test with several premium European chocolates vs several American choclates, including everything from so called American premiums such as Godiva to the standard Hershey bar. The taste panel was made up of people that claimed to have a strong preference to premium European chocolates.

The results showed that the panel could not distinguish between the premium European and the cheap chocolate, with 50% of the panel preferring the cheaper products. Some of the evaluations of the premium European chocolates included descriptions of the flavor such as "burnt" or "gritty".

So, just like Starbucks, if you prefer to spend the money on premium chocolate to convince yourself that you have better taste than others, by all means do so. For the rest, eat what you enjoy.

Don't forget about the world-class chocolate made in Utah: Amano. It wins gold and silver medals at European chocolate tastings. If you want some of the best chocolate in the world, try theirs.

I love dark chocolate and even though I wish gourmet chocolate was less expensive, it really is worth the additional cost. Also, dark chocolate is more healthy than mild chocolate. I travel to Europe a lot and became spoiled there by their chocolates, cheeses, fresh breads and better quality fruits and vegetables. The American market is price driven...not quality. We all suffer as a consequence having available primarily low quality, bad tasting foods. Hats off to this young man and his attempt to improve the quality of our lives one piece of chocolate at a time.
