The sad fact is that this will cause physicians to be unlikely to prescribe pain medications to anyone. We won't risk prison time for pain control.

I have been involved closely in this case and my faith has been shaken in our judicial system. The government has done so many dishonest things in prosecuting a good man. This case is so skewed and falsified that it is a tragedy. This good man will be exhonerated, but it will come at an enormous expense and an unecessary toll. So sad.

I have grown up with this family. I've know this man for over 20 years. Dr. MacKay is one of the greatest human beings I know. He is a great member of the community, family, and physician. This is an example of dishonest people being in positions of power. We love you Dr. Mackay!

I too am very close to this family. They are such great people. Prosecutors have embellished this case so much! Dr. MacKay is a pain doctor. With the number of patients he has prescribed over the years, it is right in line with state legal limits. And there is no death tied any patient he prescribed, but of course the government will spin it any way they can because there is no case here. He is innocent of any charges and anyone close to the case knows this.

As a person who has 3 prescription drug addicts in her family, I feel like this guy's making money on the backs of addicts. Doctors should not be allowed to prescribe to drug addicts, they should just say "No".

doctors should not be held accountable for patients who abuse or mis-use there medications. That is the responsiblity of the patient not the doctor. Obviously if the doctor sees obuse they should interveine as necessary. When the state of Utah wants someone they will go to every extreme to get them. I know I was a once very publicized prescription abuser in Utah who ultimitly paid the ultimate price, prison.

I am a patient of Dr Mackays and he not only did a full physical when he started prescribing meds for me, he asked questions and does a brief but thorough physical EVERY time i have seen him. It is a crying shame that our government cant keep its nose out of things they shouldnt be getting in. I dont understand how Dr Mackay can be blamed for some dumb person dying by abusing meds. Next they will be arresting gun dealers for people who shot themselves to commit suicide. I dont know if these government people understand what it is like to live in constant pain and have a wonderful doctor who understands and helps you make it through the day when other doctors and scared to help for fear of getting in trouble. YOU GOVERNMENT PEOPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR SELVES. LET HIM GO SO HE CAN CONTINUE TO HELP PEOPLE WHO NEED HIM. GO CAUCT THE REAL CRIMINALS WHO SELL POT AND METH AND HERION. I AM VERY ASHAMED OF ALL OF YOU !!!

It has been our honor to know and have been befriended by the Mackay family for the past 30 years. This is a man who is both kind and generous and has labored throughout his life to serve others no matter their status in life. I once called him in the middle of the night to borrow a wet vac to clean my basement due to a broken water pipe. He was there in a matter of minutes and remained several hours to help me finish the job. This is one of many hundreds of personal compassionate service efforts I am aware of in this mans life. He is giving beyond a fault. He is trusted and respected by those in the community who love and know him best. The root cause of this calamity stems from another mans greed who has failed to recognize and resolve in himself a higher path.
It is troubling that the news media could not have sensationalize the good accomplished by this genuinely great man over the past 30 years in our community.
