Utah Pride Center staff and volunteers were huddled around TV screens and computers when the announcement came that California's Proposition 8 had been overturned.
So give them all a big hug in The LDS Temple this Sunday, and walk them down the isle, and get them married, to one another, after all, it was the Mormon Church that messed Proposition 8 up in the first place, in their rush job to get it dumped and leave the back door wide open, for a Judicial Activist Judge to overturn Proposition 8. YEPPERS, they are sure smart in Utah those GOP.
All of my tithing money down the drain! And there goes my heterosexual marriage. Oh those activist judges!
So the LDS Church was instrumental in its Prop 8 efforts in California. Then it (through the Deseret News, which it owns) sends a reporter to Utah Pride Center to be there prior to the judge's ruling and write a supportive article.
Looks like the Church (through the Church entity) wants to be opposed to gay effots. But, through its media, they want to be viewed as gay friendly.
Kind of forked-tongued.
I am the law!

soon I'll be able to marry my wife's sisters. If gender doesn't matter, why does number?
Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed because the people at the time accepted homosexuality, so...well, for me and my family, I say zero tolerance for homosexuals!
We need no laws... anything goes. Prostitution, polygamy, incest among adults, bestiality, anything that two consenting adult want to participate in should be legalized so we don't discriminate. Prostitution and polygamy for sure, no harm, no foul!!! Why would we discriminate against them, they aren't hurting anyone? Marry who ya want, regardless? Incest? Get real!

I'm sorry, but you are wrong.
Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed like every other civization has ever been.
Ignoring the poor and the needy.
"And now behold, I say unto you, that the foundation of the destruction of this people is beginning to be laid by the unrighteousness of your lawyers and your judges." Alma 10:27
"Now it is not common that the voice of the people desireth anything contrary to that which is right; but it is common for the lesser part of the people to desire that which is not right; therefore this shall ye observe and make it your law--to do your business by the voice of the people."
"And if the time comes that the voice of the people doth choose iniquity, then is the time that the judgments of God will come upon you; yea, then is
the time he will visit you with great destruction even as he has hitherto visited this land. Mosiah 29:26-27
"Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did
she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good."
Ezekiel 16:49-50

Society is going down the tube and fast. What's next? Being a Pedophile is normal and should be allowed?

This is a great day for humanity! First, all of you who quote scripture to justify your bigotry seem to forget the entire New Testament. While it is easy to use parts of the Bible to justify your hatreds, it is a little bit harder for some of you to see that Jesus would never stand for your hatred. Jesus never condoned hatred or violence and never allowed for his followers (supposedly you Bible quoters) to judge or to hate people different than you (and never denounced homosexuality as far as I can tell).
And that's besides the point-church doesn't equal state and nor should it. This is America, not Iran. Supreme Court precedent was clearly used in this case to turn down prop 8-not backward psuedo-religious hatred.
The BYU "think tank and the SLC Mormon Church and their GOP's inept legal team, they're just practicing political nihilism at this point. They have become the party of contrarians. No matter the issue, if the Dems are for it, the increasingly irrelevant leadership of the GOP will be against it. They are sure smart in Utah those GOP ?. Just what would the Foundation for Apologetic Information and Research say about this act?. Religious conservatives are going apoplectic blaming the Judge for his ruling, but they should be blaming their stunningly inept legal team. The takeaway from this trial is that Prop 8 wasn't about protecting marriage, it was about stereotyping and denigrating gays as a group, and attempting to legislate them out of existence. So give them all a big hug in The LDS Temple this Sunday, and walk them down the isle, and get them married to one another, after all, it was the Mormon Church that messed Proposition 8 up in the first place, in their fast push and rush job to get it through and leave the back door wide open, for a Judicial Activist Judge to overturn Proposition 8.

Oh goodness, does this really need to be explained again? Yes, I understand that homosexuality revolts you and offends your moral values. However, there is a very clear and discernible line between adult homosexual activity and pedophilia or bestiality - that is, the latter two involve more than consenting adults. Your inability to see the distinction only reveals your own blindness.

"the fate of the city was regarded as a warning against sensual wickedness."--Bible dictionary
"The ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are symbols of wretched wickedness more especially related to this (homosexuality) perversion...So degenerate had Sodom become that not 10 righteous people could be found, and the Lord had to destroy it." --Miracle of Forgiveness.
You can't argue that it was rejecting the poor. You have no way to back that up.
TOO: One of my favorite contradicting stories in the bible, where god keeps changing his mind..
Lot offered up his virgin daughters to the angry mob.
He was willing to let them rape his daughters to let him and the Angels go...
(Of course the law then allows you to sell a daughter into slavery or prostitution but only if you need the money.)
Then Lot's daughters slept and concieved children from their fathers which is CLEARLY insest, why are there so many few people talking and harping over this sin.
Seems like there were NO righteous in Sodom, Gomorrah or Lot's tent.
Happy Valley Heretic | 5:28 p.m. Aug. 5, 2010
Kind of a good point. The Lord commanded Lot to find 10 righteous people in the city and he wouldn't destroy it, and to take his family and not look back. THAT was the commandment. Since he couldn't find the 10, the city was destroyed. You can't assume anything after that.
As for the incest, that's about where your argument runs out. Adam and Eve had kids, and where do you think the rest of us came from? Uh oh, you got it, incest. That was necessary, yet it wasn't a sin.
Good luck with that one.
