Good decision by the court

Flaming Liberal

Way to rule from the bench.

Justice prevails.

One step in the right direction.

Well, I'd be shocked if the 9th Circuit didn't uphold this ruling...so looks like the Supreme Court will have to decide this one...very interesting.

Henry Drummond

Perhaps some lawyer can explain what the point is of having a Federal Judge decide a case when both sides are saying they will appeal if they don't get the answer they want. Apparently this will go to the next court up the line with the understanding that their ruling won't count either. Why is this a case for a federal court anyway?

Sad ruling

ExVoto

Excellent news.

Nothing better than gay marriage to help usher in the Second Coming. That will be a hot day in Cali.

Bountiful Democrat

Before the onslaught of comments by my brethern and fellow Ward members get posted, I want to say: This is not about the morality of homosexuality. This does not mean you can't believe that Gay Marriage is wrong and not ordained of God.

It does mean we live in a country founded for everyone to pursue happiness with Liberty and Justice for all. This doesn't weaken your marriage, rather it should strengthen it, or you are on weak ground to begin with.

This is when judge activism shapes the destinies of nations. Judges are to review the merits of every case, use precedent law and keep their opinions and personal idiologies out of the bench. Of course many of us expected this to come out from the 9th Court of Appeals in SAN FRANCISCO, probably the bastion of liberlalism, home of Nancy Pelossi and likely the gayest city in the U.S. It's amazing how one man can strike down the will of 7 million Californians. That's the value of your votes America.

Case will go to the Supreme Court

Time to remove benefits for married couples whether those benefits are financial, legal or otherwise.

Then perhaps same-sex couples would no longer see any need for marriage.

A Conservative

Lets go against what the people want, because that is clearly unconstitutional.

doingmyway

How can a judge overturn the will of 7 million voters? Sounds like a big pay off to me!

Albemar

Thank God! When the "people" are that prejudice against their fellow human beings and violate the constitution, which is meant to protect everyone, "Thank God" we have judges who will see past all the bigotry and protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority.
