The Aggies and Coach Andersen are going to surprise some teams this year. They have size, strength and depth. GO AGGIES!!!!

DocSarvis

The Ags need to get bigger, stronger, and quicker on both sides of the line. That's the priority. Controlling the line of scrimmage. They won't do it this year, but give Andersen a couple more years and they will.

It's really crazy how Andersen has turned things around so quick at USU. I think if he can figure out how to replace Turbin and keep his O line in check, Andersen is going to help the A get to a quality bowl game this year. I hope to see it.

MiP

Anderson is a great coach and Borel is a stud. Things are looking up. Still, they play a pretty tough schedule to do much better than 0.500.

Forget about it games:
Oklahoma
Boise State

Small chance of Aggie win:
BYU
Nevada

Fifty-Fifty:
LA Tech
Hawaii
Fresno State
SDSU

Should be wins:
NMSU
Idaho

Chalk it up for the Aggies:
Idaho State (but they are FCS)
SJSU

Prediction:
--USU 6-6 (4-4)
--If they don't make it this year, Anderson will have them in a bowl game within three years.

Even with Turbin and Morrison out the Aggies will score plenty of points behind Borel. He was great last year and proves to be even better this year. The key will be if the defense can actually stop someone. They seem to be deeper and bigger on paper, but we will have to see how it shapes up on field. I agree with "MiP" that things should end up about 6-6 this year. Whatever happens I will be at Romney screaming my guts out for my team. Go State!!!

RE: MiP

I wouldn't chalk Hawaii up as 50/50. I would put them in the should be wins, along with Fresno State (we should've beat them last 2 years). I would also put the Nevada game as 50/50, with the 2 point heartbreaker last year, anything can happen.

PJ

Last year we should have won seven games. How long has it been since we've said that? The fail at NMSU is still irritating, if we score in the second half vs. Fresno, we get a win and the game against Nevada was ours. The difference this year is our non-conf. schedule, instead of three tough road games we get one hard road game, one 50/50 road game, one "easy" home game and I think the BYU game is 50/50 also. One more thing: if the attendance at the spring game and the ladies clinic are any indication to the excitment surrounding this team, then it looks like people are pumped again for aggie football.

I wouldn't call 3-5 conference outcome a fairly strong result and no matter how close a game is an 'almost win' is still a loss. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade because I think Andersen is a stud and offensively the Aggies could be pretty explosive. But it's as clear as the nose on my face that on the defensive side of the ball the Aggies have a long way to go. But 6-6 sounds pretty reasonable for an improving football program.

Unless someone else really steps it up it is going to be hard for the Aggies to hit .500 without Turbin. Turbin was the one part of our offense last season that the other teams could always anticipate, but were still hard pressed to stop.

I'm really looking forward to this season! :-) I think 6-6 is likely and 7-5 is a real possibility.

I'm predicting this year that the Aggies make it to a bowl game.

Then next year with a healthy Turbin back and Boise State leaving. The Aggies are conference champs!

Ogden Aggie

Very optimistic Payson40, but not crazy. In my mind, as long as the Ags get someone to step up and replace Borel (which will be no easy feat) there is no reason the Ags couldn't be WAC champs in 2011.
