`We need to throw Obama out and make Jan Brewer our President!

Anti Government

Everyone knew it would be denied by the first judge..unfortunately now it will go to the 9th circuit court of appeals which is of course yet another pile of liberal trash activist judges..it will be denied.

Unfortunately the libs do not currently own the supreme court which is where this is going to end up.

Anti Government

We knew the first judge would obstruct the law.

We also know the next court will do the same. The 9th Circuit is a bunch of Liberal sycophants.

The dimocrats don't own the supreme court right now though and that is where this will ultimately end up.

Let the dimocrats enjoy their short term victory. in the end AZ will be allowed to proceed with the vast majority of this law.

Bob Rooney

The federal government won't protect U.S. workers, local communities and
taxpayers from illegal immigration. The federal government sues to stop states
that try to help. The federal court system blocks Arizona from enforcing the
federal laws that the federal government won't enforce.

Esquire

All you Obama haters, I know you don;'t like the facts, but note what was reported earlier this week:

"In a bid to remake the enforcement of federal immigration laws, the Obama administration is deporting record numbers of illegal immigrants and auditing hundreds of businesses that blithely hire undocumented workers.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency expects to deport about 400,000 people this fiscal year, nearly 10 percent above the Bush administration's 2008 total and 25 percent more than were deported in 2007. The pace of company audits has roughly quadrupled since President George W. Bush's final year in office."

AZ can appeal, but they will lose. Too bad the Republicans are stopping reform legislation in Washington.

UTLibertarian

Blocked or not blocked, nothing will change until voters hold their representatives responsible for discharging the duties enumerated in the Constitution.

The 10+ million people who have been able to exploit the social services of the states at the expense of being exploited by businesses that duck around minimum wage laws all to the tune of graft and corruption at every level of government.

Democrats and Republicans alike have pandered to the poor and rich, playing both sides against the middle, and this is yet another result showing that for every government sponsored solution, there are two new government created problems.

Unfortunately, the middle has the political clout of a cloud, looking substantial in the distance but lacking any interior structure or strength. For too long, the middle has put more thought into selecting the next American Idol rather than their next Congressional representative.

So, in the end, if you want to know who to blame, find the nearest mirror and stare real good and long at it. The free ride for everyone has just about ended and the toll booth is flashing dead ahead.

Esquire, 5% 10% are barely record numbers. Set to make it appear that Obama is tough on illegal immigration.

If you have 700,000 enter illegally (including overstay visas) each year, and you deport 400,000. Your losing ground.

Bolton is not a "liberal activist" judge! She's a longtime favorite of Reoublicans, very recently praised by none other than John Kyl!

This isn’t just Arizona’s problem. We are fighting for our sovereignty and we must stop this invasion or our children and grandchildren are going to pay the ultimate price.

Spoc

I have to agree with Esquire on one thing.

Bush was no shining example of enforcement of Federal immigration law! In 2007 when Congress was contemplating amnesty, the rate of illegal border crossing mushroomed. I suspect we will see the same thing if BO pursues bypassing Congress to give amnesty based on global warming or political unrest in Mexico.

By the way, many of those 400k deportees were counted several times because they were repeat offenders (a felony) and should have spent 2 years in prison. Instead they just got a free ride home to pick up another load for the next run. The majority of them should have spent time in prison for identity theft and social security number fraud.

I am much more interested in the percentage of employers, whose illegal alien employees are deported, who also spend time in prison. They are the ones creating the demand. We go after both parties in prostitution. Same with drug pushers and users. Why do we let the employers so often walk away?

SLars

Bolton was named to the bench by Clinton.

Obama has gone after business this year, he has been tough on the businessmen. But his silent raids have turned most of the people here illegally back into the streets.

That's the problem, it doesn't really do any good as they just find work elsewhere.

It's going to take real enforcement of our laws, otherwise this same pattern will continue over and over in the coming decades. We are going to kill the middle class, and pull this country down instead of helping others rise up.

Screwdriver

Going after the workers is like playing pop the weasel. I can't believe conservatives are buying the idea that they need to go after the worker instead of the employer.

They stopped giving tax ID numbers to illegals and started e-verify and immediatly thousands of Az employers let illegals go due to fear of mostly the IRS comming after them. Those jobs are no legal citizen's jobs.

Going after the worker is just playing pop the weasel over and over and over.

Christy

Look at that picture.

Those are the faces of anti-immigration.

And they are on their way out.

How about you let your heart be your guide?

JBrady

Pro-illegal groups would rather we go after only business. They know Obama will let the majority of those illegally here go.

Search "obama silent raids" to find out just how well it's not working. We need to go after both groups, not just American businessmen.

RRB

With almost 84% of American business being owned by white non-Hispanic, isn't going after business racist or profiling? This entire argument is crazy.

It's a scary world when your country doesn't protect your job, but goes out of the way to help employ people from other countries. A big part of our laws have been ignored or discarded the past twenty plus years to cover up for this.

My2Cents

Best course of action is to change it from an immigration law to a foreign invasion and occupation laws. No judge or Obama can deny any state from protecting itself from foreign invaders. For whatever reason these illegals cross our borders is no excuse to allow it. My dream is to be able to leave my home without fear from invasion and foreign nationals corrupting and looting our economy and killing in our neighborhoods.

These illegals have completely bypassed any laws regarding immigration so it is clearly an invasion issue, Calderon of Mexico is behind this invasion and occupation of the United States by his subjects.

RichardB

Those are the faces of legal immigration. You only hurt the honest immigrant, when you lump them into a group with those who come here illegally. It's also a failed ploy to discredit those who want the laws enforced.

My heart tells me that the 15 million Americans out of work should come first, before citizens of other countries that demand our charity. We can only do so much, we can't provide welfare to the world.

RichardB

The article leaves out an important fact. A federal appeals court said it will not hear the case until November. (after the elections) That's why Brewer is willing to change the law. She and the people of Arizona are tired of the politics.

Say No to BO

There's a great analysis in The National Review by Heather MacDonald. Basically, Obama is defending his de facto silent amnesty for illegals. He (and Bush before him) have made illegal aliens a protected class through lack of enforcement. SB1070 threatens that scam.

MacDonald's article is called What Judge Bolton's Injunction Doesn't Say.

wrz

What Brewer should do is repeal Arizona's S1070 and pass a new, similar law. And have it go into effect immediately.
