Governor Herbert did what was expected. To say that he carries the support of the "silent majority" may be erroneous.

So, hate mail is when a contituant does not agree with Herbert? How about representing citizens for a change! We will all remember how we have been betrayed when elections roll around. If Herbert has his way, we will become even more of a sanctuary state for Illeagal Aliens and the issues they bring with them.

These people broke the law! Two broken laws does not make anything right.
I wonder how many of these letter writers would be screaming fowl if it had been their records that had been made public. Oh yes it can happen when you have loose cannons trolling thru records that they have no business doing.
Illegal aliens is the Federal Governments job to deport, no state has that right, the Governor can not deport anyone.
Take a look at Arizona that tried to upsurt the Federal jurisdiction over illegals by passing an unconstitutional law that will now be in the courts for years. The Arizona law is a total waste of time and money when they should have been working to get the Federal Government to solve the problem.

The greatest slight of hand trick going on right now , we blame our economic woes on a small minority making $3 an hour doing jobs we wouldn't do, while our bosses, CEO's, and company presidents continue to make a killing in the Trillion$ of dollar$ in unmeritous pay. Do you really think your boss should be making that much more than you!?

Wake up! Your watching and blaming the wrong people. Administrative pay has not only maintained but in fact risen in our this economic downturn, while these same company's continue layoffs and cutbacks in other areas. We are watching and blaming the people who are picking up and eating the small scraps that fall off the table, while a privileged few are eating surf and turf above us.

So it would be okay for your personal information to be included on a list. The people who complied the list using access to state computers also broke the law and the trust of the citizens of Utah. Illegals are also breaking the law.

Whether you think Utah has, or does not have an immigration problem, Governor Herbert investigated the illegal release of information by state employees. Further, it is not a matter of whether or not the Governor beleves a stronger position on illegal immigration to Utah needs to be taken. A law was broken by a state employee, and it would be wrong for him to ignore that because a percentage of people in Utah want "change."

Beautiful...just beautiful.

I have seen Utah do a complete 180 in my short 50 year life-time.

I remember being amazed at how quickly the Nephites flipped from one-side to the other.

My eye's been witness to it in these Latter-Days.

The righteous are rippening for destruction....

Utah at its very best. Shows what conservatives are really all about.

I fully support the firing of the DWS workers. They were wrong and used positions of trust to break the law and get publicity for their cause. I hope they are both punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Give me a break! Arizona is the only government in the country standing up for it's own citizens!! Everyone else is siding with illegal aliens! And by the way, Arizona's government has been begging the Feds to do something for years! THEY REFUSE TO ACT! And if you think States have no rights, read your constitution again!

justducky

So, it the Federal Government refuses to do it's job by enforcing existing laws, what should Arizona have done?
They have been demanding that the feds send troops and provide more funding to control the border. Arizona's hospitals, law enforcement and welfare system are at the breaking point. The money is gone! California is the poster child for this. Kidnapping/shootouts taking place across the border are taking place on a daily basis.
Easy for you to sit back in your chair as a Monday morning quarterback. It's coming to your doorstep in a big way and soon if Herbert gets his way. Utah is already known as a sanctuary state.

Holy Cow!!!
what do you want next?

A Coliseum? Public floggings, crucifictions?

Olympics games to the death, with a political/racial/hate fired twist???

Let's see, we already have:

State Executions,
Teachers having in appropriate relations with students,
Aggressive Drivers,
Highest on-line porn,
Highest Depression,

The Governor is doing his JOB.
He is doing the right thing and is following the LAW.

You nutcakes want a Salem witch-hunt,
and play the vigilatantes OUR ancestors left back in Missouri 170 years ago!!!

This is NOT the same place I grew-up.....

Reasonable Person

Beeker10, if you weren't so blinded, you'd know that Obama has stationed more agents at the border AND arrested/deported more illegals than the previous administration.

I don't know what job an illegal took from you, but they've never taken a job from anyone I know.

Unless, of course, you're only qualified to clean hotel rooms, wash dishes, mow lawns, pick fruit, do heavy farmwork, etc.

I frankly DO NOT CARE if people are here "illegally".

What I DO WANT is for them to pay taxes, pay into social security, learn English (as Obama said) and add consumers to our country. The Lord knows we need consumers.

The Governor of Arizona can call up the Arizona National Guard at anytime to enforce Federal Law and "protect" the good citizens of her state from invasion.

What's happening there is politcal grand-standing. plain and simple....

sagacity

"I believe you handled the 'list' correctly," an e-mail dated Wednesday said. "Didn't realize you had come under fire for your actions but I suppose it's the ones most passionate about an issue that you'll hear from. Carry on, the silent majority support you on this."

AMEN.

So, perhaps those of us who think the governor did the right thing, should send him a quick email of support and thanks.

sagacity

Beeker, take a deep breath. Turn off your radio and TV and take some time to really educate yourself. It is simply not true that the Federal Government is doing nothing about immigration. The Constitution is the law of the land. And it was upheld today.

What the two state employees did was unethical. The governor has acted accordingly.

I'm guessing your anger is being stoked and flamed by rich white Republican entertainers who are dividing this country all the while blaming our black Democratic president for doing so.

Where is your outrage over your party saying NO to unemployment benefits, but YES to extending the Bush tax cuts to the top 2% wealthiest Americans?

Where's the vitriol??

DR Hall

I do believe that the investigation has been ok. Certain types of people think doing harm to some one or groups is fine as long as it is not them. I believe the list was instigated and done with the support of some Republicans and the TEA Party. The whole country has become very nasty to each other and are not building our would in a respectful way. I think it is high time we treat others as we wished to be treated, The Golden Rule. We have become very CARNIVOROUS.

Governor Hires Illegal Workers for the State of Utrah - What do you expect?

DN Subscriber

Okay, the Governor is taking action on the list makers.

What is he doing to comb through state databases to identify illegals who are violating Utah laws? Although not authorized to do so, the fired workers proved it can be done. Why isn't Herbert demanding that we force everyone else to obey the law regarding illegals and state services?

Well, Governor, how about it? Or, would you prefer even more unhappy Utahns right before elections in November?

CJ

You are way off base with the majority of Utahns Governor and I am afraid you are going to pay a price for it. As a Republican who was a delegate at the recent convention I can tell you that anyone who is trying to push anything resembling amnesty is going to go down and go down big. Your recent sham of a conference was nothing but a gathering of amnesty hacks and everyone knows it.
With a large number of unemployed Utahns out there your little guest worker baloney is going to go over like a lead balloon. You need to learn from Bennett and Cannon what happens to those who don't want to enforce the law. I am one Republican who won't be supporting you this election, I would rather vote for a real Democrat than a pseudo one like you. There is nothing worse than a Republican with Democratic leanings.
