Wow,
Need I tell you fellow Ute fans that this year is going to be a great one?
When has Utah's defense ever struggled? Our defense is the key ingredient that sent us to 2 BCS games and as many undefeated seasons. That won't change this year even with only 4 returning starters.
But now! watch out MWC...The Utah offense is going to back to 2004 form this coming season. Jordan Wynn is the real deal as was shown at the end of last season (as a true freshman). This kid is amazing and with a great group around him, this is going to be a push for a conference champion (even the media believes the championship is between TCU and Utah).
Go UTES!
Glad to hear the confidence from the defensive side of the ball, since we lost so many great players from last year’s team, though with Kyle as couch you have to know the D should always be good. Haven’t been to RES since 2006 so I am looking forward to being out there for the PITT game to get the season kicked off right. LETS GO UTES!!
Confidence: Julie Andrews would be so proud.
Julie Andrews would be the starting QB at byu.
Utah has a lot of talent but not a lot of game experience outside of the D line and Burton. They need to prove themselves. They will be tested big time right out ofthe gate against Pitt. Pitt has a monster receiver and two monster running backs. A great game to start the season. Go Utes.
Best of luck this year. After this its bottom dwellers with an occasional successful .500 season every ten years
No reason we can't havee third bcs this year. With the tcu utah game in our house we are the favorite to go undefeated out of the non aqs. Sorru tds you will never ever even smell a bcs game
Utes not short on confidence?
That's not the only thing they haven't been short on.
Wow, what great attitude the team has going into the season. This is tremendous! I'm really excited to see the new offense. Football is in the air, Utah friends!
@Cougar Claws
How about staying on your on side? Take your cruddy, jealous, "mid-major" hateful attitude with you.
Confidence? Yea the Utes have it -and they should.
It’s kinda like King James asked to comeback and play for his high school team — just for kicks. Utah is a BCS team going through the motions (for one more year) against mid-major talent.
I hope all you mid-major programs appreciate the Ute$ awesomeness. I’m sure you will.
There are more comments from jealous Cougar fans on this Utah article, than there are on the BYU football story right about this one.
Tells you exactly where these two programs are currently and in the future.
Great quote on ESPN this morning...had to settle:
In June, Scott nearly turned the Pac-10 into the Pac-16 -- and in the process nearly killed the Big 12.
But Texas, Oklahoma and three other Big 12 teams decided to stay put and Scott had to settle for adding Colorado and Utah.
Johnny Triumph-
If Utah was settled on, then where does that leave byu ha ha? The toilet?? That comment made byu look even worse and you were trying to make fun of Utah. Good try, but epic fail pal
Johnny Triumph. I think going by Johnny Bravo would fit you a little better. Strange that for three months before the conference expansion happened all the big (non-local, non-zoob) media outlets were predicting it would be Utah and Colorado going to the Pac. Colin Cowherd on ESPN said it was already a done deal long before Texas etc. was even mentioned. To me that says the whole big 12 thing was a red herring specifically done to help Texas get a bigger piece of their conference pie. The plan was always Utah and Colorado. I'm just curious to see what Texas will give the Pac 12 as repayment for the help. I'm guessing they'll be scheduling many more home and aways with some of the less prestigious Pac schools. We'll have to see. Either way, if you look at the articles from before Texas was mentioned for the Pac, you will see I'm right.

So you're saying . . . it'll be different?
Does anyone else notice that Bronco Mendenhall consistently requires four times more words than is typically necessary to construct a sentence?
Todd Christensen (of the mtn. network) speaks in the same contrived, lofty manner. Do these guys just like to hear themselves talk, or is this part of the BYU curriculum . . . ? Sheesh.
@ andrewute1
I guess it just helps him sleep better at night.
I am really excited for this season. After about three games, I think the Defense will be the typical Utah-dominant defense that we have grown to love. This is a Kyle Whittingham team. I expect us to dominate time of possession most games with our three headed running back attack. That will allow Jordan Wynn to play more free and I expect our recievers will put up some good numbers. And we have a tight end this year! I am not going to predict another BCS game, Ill leave that to others who like to print shirts, but if we take it one game at a time, we can have a very, very good year.
Defensive starting experience is less important. NO ONE rotates offensive linemen, so it is hard to get experience there. EVERYONE rotates on defense, so a backup comes in prepared.
Ernest T no-class and hedge pig-head. When are you two going to give it up? Are you guys 14 or something? Enjoy the team, rather than crowing like being a fan actually makes you better than someone else. Being an athletic supporter isn't the same as being a jock. Or in your cases, maybe it is.
Really, the only thing that I am worried about is Linebacker and Receiver. I think there are a couple guys that can make an impact at linebacker (JJ Williams & Chaz Walker), both of which have a little bit of playing time. I don't think it'll be a strength like it was last year, but decent. The D Line will be a force. Everyone is saying the secondary is questionable, but Burton, Chapman, and Taplin-Ross will be anchors. Chapman was better than Sanford last year. Taplin-Ross was ALWAYS making plays. The secondary will be fine and with a great d-line, I expect lots of sacks.
At receiver, we have Brooks. There are a bunch of names I've heard, but not a blazing speed type of guy to replace Reed. We need someone to run fast (who is big, no offense Brooks) and get down field to stretch the D. I think they will do okay, but nothing amazing. Good thing is that the Utah O-line will be awesome, so Wynn will have plenty of time to find his guys.
That's my analysis. I'm excited....5 weeks from tomorrow is Pitt!!!!

------------
Bronco's word-to-thought ratio is about 125 to 1.

Padman,
If you have a problem with the speech patter of the cyborg better known as bronco mendencode, simple take the batteries out of his back.
