The BIGGEST thing that the FBI is trying to do is to protect the American citizen. Is that so wrong? A criminal is one who breaks the law. Eventually will defining a criminal in that manner be politically incorrect? Help me!!!

Moosehead

Who cares what the ACLU worries about? I worry about the ACLU. At on time, they actually cared about civil liberties. Today, they are just another extremist group with a left-wing, politically correct agenda.

I don't believe that the Police are looking at a crime based on racial profile. Sure 45% of the crime committed comes from the "minority groups," but, to say that is racial profiling is crazy.

Are Police Racial Profiling the white population who make up 54% of those. NO!!! Most of these people were convicted of a crime by a jury. They did not see any racial profiling or they would have raised the issue with the Judge.

ACLU is up in the night.

TRUTH

time for the IRS to investigate all ACLU attorneys...turn about is fair play!

sledhead

The ACLU is a joke. If they had half a brain they would see that the "average white male" is now the most discriminated person in this country.

Are they worried someone’s encroaching on their turf? Isn’t that what the ACLU does, racial and religious profiling?

I’m often reminded of Orwell’s pink piggies, from Animal Farm.

The Rock

ACLU = Anti Christian Lawyers Union
ACLU = American Communist Lawyers Union

I am certain that others will be able to come up with more creative, but accurate, depictions of this evil organization.

I want to know why the ACLU ever has the right to access this information? Who are they? are they elected officials? are they policemen? The roots of the ACLU are firmly rooted in communism, radicalism, revolutionary radicalism--and these guys essentially run this country, they dictate most of our policy, they cost the taxpayer millions and million of dollars every year, because we must pay for their lawsuits, from which they continue to fund their anti-american legal crusade.

Happy Valley Heretic

The ACLU has long defended individuals, families, and religious communities who wish to manifest their religion in public. Particularly when compared to other industrialized democracies, religion plays a prominent role in American public life. The ACLU has actively supported the right of people to preach their religion in public places and to go door-to-door to spread their religious messages."

"The ACLU has consistently defended the rights of Christians to worship as their religion and conscience dictates, often against the attempts by other Christians to infringe upon those rights by having certain forms of Christianity privileged by the government. The ACLU has also consistently fought against the privileging of any one religion or any one sect over others."

While most civil rights and civil liberties organizations focus on a specific issue or a particular constituency, the ACLU is the only organization that defends all of our constitutional liberties and the rights of all Americans."

You guys should pay attention to those who ARE here to defend America and the Constitution.

If the Conservative religious Right doesn’t want to be picked on by the ACLU....

Maybe they should stop trampling on others people’s civil liberties.

HVH, The ACLU has taken rights of religious minorities (particularly LDS) to speak, be politically involved, read religious stories from pioneer journals on the Mormon trail (the ACLU claimed they wanted a different history told, the ACLU version), and etc.

They also actively sue for the rights of persons to blast hatred (both religious and non) and misinformation against LDS, disrupt LDS marriages, desecrate LDS symbols of Christ, etc, on LDS property and on public property.

It seems to me that they have singled out (profiled) a minority group and are trying to silence and encourage hatred against that group.

They did defend the JW’s some time ago, in a sharp PR move, perhaps this was simply so people wouldn’t so easily see their obvious agenda, but it goes against everything else they stand for.

I think the ACLU may have been a little less biased in their early days, just as, pointed out above, Orwell’s pink piggies may have originally honestly been concerned for the liberties of ALL farm animals.
Yet, as Orwell wisely teaches us, groups like the ACLU quickly lose sight of such things once they have the power they seek.

lost in DC

Anti-Christ in League with the Underworld.

HVH, where were they when two Christian girls were thrown out (or threatened to be thrown out) of their public universities' graduate programs because of their religious beliefs? They do not defend christians.

Agree with lostinDC etc.
The ACLU agenda is hidden in cries of “separate religion from State!!!” This may mean “Christians, Mormons must be driven from the State.”
One of many examples of ACLU profiling is Martin’s Cove, sacred land to LDS.

Religious people used to have a right to collectively own and buy property, to speak freely, and be involved politically, and LDS bought a WYO ranch adjacent to the Cove and started trek reenactments. The BLM leased the Cove to LDS persons, some religoius. The ACLU and other anti-Mormons sued to stop this desert lease.

Originally, the letter I read by ACLU representatives, justified ACLU actions by arguing that the history being taught there was inaccurate, apparently because, rather than being the ACLU approved version of history, where voices are silenced, the stories were read from journals of religious pioneers who actually walked walked the Trail. The ACLU wanted to censor those voices and wanted to blame someone (BY?)for the deaths (not those who drove with cannons),for the choices people made and reported in jornals, using liberties that Americans once had, to freely go against the council of leaders and leave the East too late.

The above was in the article, but the strategy used in court was apparently the typical-find other Mormon haters, be outraged that the BLM never built an access road to Martin’s Cove and the Mormons built a road and visitors center on private LDS property and wanted to see this sacred space and enjoy.

Then ACLU lawyers claimed that Mormons were proselytizing in the deserts of Wyoming (gasp). They can’t have that kind of free speech, but, so far, the ACLU been able to pass laws, respecting religion, completely prohibiting the free exercise of speech, which the ACLU calls “proselytizing.” A guide sinned in asking someone (possibly planted), what their religion was. This was probably so he would know how to present the story of the Cove. Only the ACLU can repeatedly ask about the religion of those who buy or lease property and only they discriminate, profile, and block sales based on religion and race, so naturally they assumed others would do as they do, and so they put a stop to the freedom of inquiring about religion but only on ACLU controlled lands. : )

They’re amazing, how do they take rights under the "liberties" banner.

Happy Valley Heretic

Seems to me this works out well for the dominant religion here in Utah.

HVH, where were they when two Christian girls were thrown out (or threatened to be thrown out) of their public universities' graduate programs because of their religious beliefs? They do not defend christians.

I don't know your vagaries leave me NO way of asking.

Your problem lies with your inability to recognize others religious freedoms because of your intolerance of non-christians. Contrary to the posters above
America is NOT a Christian Nation. Deal with it.

The ACLU Orwellian PR moves (defending JW’s and a few other cases) do work to gain supporters, helping them carry out other agendas, profiling religouis persons and taking rights under the banner of "liberties" and "others freedoms" and they try to tell us they are fighting intolerance by Christians against "others."

But we have to remember that ALL the animals were very well represented by Orwell’s piggies, at least, that is how they wanted the others to see it.

I’m anxiously awaiting the appearance of this new ACLU history in the textbooks. You know the one, where the ACLU actually penned the First Amendment, not religious persons, and it wasn’t my ancestors who fought for religious freedoms but it was in truth your friends at the ACLU. And, if Mormon missionaries are still allowed to speak on public lands (but only without religious content) it was certainly the ACLU who fought for those free speech rights. And, if religious persons can speak in England, France, Australia, some places in the Middle East, Asia, etc, well, that was certainly the ACLU too, they’re always right there for us.

Thank you

I don't hate the ACLU, but like to keep informed.

When the ACLU profiles religious persons, those who join them in hating the religious often turn a blind eye, telling themselves they’re “defending,” or separating “Church and State,” or “those religious people are trying to control everything anyway.”

Some believe chestless humans evolved, and that “we are so very different” from humans decades ago. The reality is that we only use different words, methods, and banners.

When Nazi’s profiled Jews, many otherwise good people stood by, because “I wasn’t a Jew.” Then these socialists started profiling others (sidenote: "Mormons" were “next” on Nazi lists).

The ACLU has already focused on Mormons. As noted above they have taken many rights. They have also prevented Mormons from free speech in the classroom, in papers, on public lands etc, conversly they promote hate speech, religious and non, public and private, against Mormons only. Taxes fund anti-LDS movies, misinforming anti-LDS propaganda at schools, etc. Instructors and students speaking in defense of love for God or Mormon neighbors are gagged.

The ACLU doesnt respond to LDS requests for help or fairness.

This antiMormon profiling is STILL happening in America.
