Segura could not of been on the list. The lies here are just out of control.

The list was of illegal parents that have children born here, and are receiving benefits for all their children.

Segura is a legal citizen, also the list was mostly Hispanic, possible because they make up the largest group of people here illegally.

Preach to the choir about calm, then stir it up with falsehoods

Hillen, you're pathetic in your comments. For years I've disliked Alex Segura for founding the Minutemen organization. To me it was like Jesse Jackson being the HP of the KKK; a Latino who hates Latinos, pretty much like most "Pochos" (Mexican-Americans) in CA who hate other Mexicans and the Newyorricans who hate Puerto Ricans. Last week, for the first time to me, he demonstrted pragmatism by detaching himself from the typical rethoric of those in the Minutemen organization he founded and admitted that terrorizing others is just NOT the solution. Sad to seee though that he didn't know the kind of people he'd attract to the Minutemen group: the incult, the red-neck, the bigots, the racists. Good for Segura that had two awakenings this week and for staying in one piece.

Whether or not you like Segura after the meeting...

I just want one good reason why it's not ok for two people who disagree to come together and commit to let go of some intolerance and disrespect for each other for the greater good. Anyone have an answer?

Charity is NOT to be enforced by the government. Forcing us to do "charity" totally goes against this principle.

Where are the balloons? I thought when a bunch of clowns get together they always bring balloons.
Maybe they were over by their copies of Mein kampf, and their white sheets.

....and there's only 35 of them!

If you want a real laugh, go to their website.

They can't even spell the word "borders" correctly!
They call themselves "Minutemen" and "Minute Men".

This is merely a small collective of half-literate low-achievers who somehow have managed to usurp the word "patriot" into meaning he opposite of what they intend.

ANY latino club is under their "Race Monger" tab. But their words, make it logical to put themselves there, too!

    Google: "Utah Minuteman Project"

The Minutemen are a bunch of unachievers. They have no credibility. Segura himself could have been part of "the list" having a Spanish surname.

The Minutemen are a bunch of angry white men who want to blame others for their failures. They have no education. It wouldn't surprise me if they united themselves to a Neo-Nazi group in the future.

    Not scared,
There is an invasion. It is by those who support the Narco culture. It's power is derived from not only drugs but the sale and trading of Human Beings. Human trafficking and migrant smuggling contribute tens of billions of dollars to finance international organized crime groups.

An example of the invasion. Mexico, a proud nation of hopes and dreams will become a failed state by the end of this year. Millions of people are suffering from the on going terrorism.

The supporters of this culture are established in great numbers in our country. The daily news details the causalities they cause for you to see.

This invasion is detailed in our nation in the 2009 National Drug Threat Assessment report by the U.S. Justice Dept.

I love the propaganda use of invaders. Whites are referred to as pilgrims, colonist, pioneers and settlers. These nuts write as if the Mexican navy was shelling San Diego as Mexican armor smashes through Yuma.

Where in history have "invaders" provided most the labor to fed a nation? They are tossing antelope on boxes to use as ammo? They are picking tomatoes to take over Fresno?

They break into restaurants to clean floors, bathrooms and dishes?

"What this has exposed is that the state DOES know who is legal and who is not." The facts disprove this contention. Many on the list are here legally. If anything, the list proves how undocumented works can't get welfare.

Do you people really believe ranting, distorting facts and showing incivility will change minds?

I'm seeing more how this is orchestrated to play on fear and racial hatred.

I've been forced to read about immigration. I've learned you're lying. You throw our 40,000,000. It's between 8-10 million. There has been a deduction in the numbers.

The real culprit is limited resources. You can only use the money budgeted to you.

Good for Alex for standing and saying something positive. I agree that the list was the wrong thing to do and my guess is that you're not alone.

I'm so tired of this debate. It gives credibility to those who haven't earned it. Just because you wrap yourself in teh American flag doesn't mean you know or understand the immigration debate.

Faith Hope and Charity, huh? What about respect, responsibility, accountability, honor, and justice?

Compassion and mercy require justice, after all.

In regard to the illegal alien invaders, they will play everyone for all they can get. ANY "stand with them" effort will ONLY be taken advantage of by them. Alex, of all people should know and understand this. He should know better.

As far as the list, if there were violations done by releasing the list, fine, deal with them.

What this has exposed is that the state DOES know who is legal and who is not. Which brings up the greater question: Why is the state, OUR state, not obeying the law themselves, not rooting out these invaders or making an effort to rid ourselves of them? Where is Shurtleff, Herbert? THEY are the leading law enforcement officers in the state! Why are they not using all they have to see that the law, OUR law, is being honored? These two are the real culprits in this whole mess.

The yelling, cussing, and excoriation for two hours? You know what they say, you can take the minutemen out of the trailer court but you can't take the trailer court out of the minutemen!

The egregious sin of trying to have a calming effect on the out-of-control immigration debate is indeed terrible, is it not? What on earth could possibly come of actually talking to one another and trying to work together? It is sooooo much better to yell and scream and finger-point in an irrational and emotional manner than letting "cooler heads prevail." Yes, anger and an unwillingness to compromise or be team players is what has made this United States of America great!

    @Poqui
The brown shirts were the SA not the SS.

Were Cesar Chavez and the UFW nazis? They marched in 1969 along the border in Imperial County to protest illegal immigration.

It cracks me up to see La Raza (The Race) marching down Cesar Chavez Bvld in San Diego, carrying Mexican flags, protesting against border protection. La Raza by their own definition is RACIST.

Mr. Segura had as an inactive member superimposed himself as the spokes person for the Utah Minuteman Project. He was not the elected spokes person by the membership to do so.

This was the central issue in last nights meeting.

Many organizations have bylaws and constitutions from which they operate from. The UMP meeting last night demonstrated an open meeting in which the membership had a voice to call a person accountable for their actions. It demonstrated also that an individual can defend their actions.

The meeting demonstrated that organizational bylaws and a constitution work when applied.

    Minutemen = SS brown shirts

    Period.

An extremist group that has only 15 members should not be getting this kind of attention in the media.

My men's league soccer team has more paying members, maybe Desnews would like to interview us for our opinion on immigration.

Let me be a Prophet. The border is open because there are powerful interests in the world who want it that way. The politicals of both parties envision a pan American entity. They dream of a United States of the Americas. Both parties would gladly have a socialist system with a ruling oligarchy. The politicals are corrupt. They go to Washington DC and make $165,000 and soon become multimillionaires. How could that happen? To the trans-nationalists, the United States is out of step with the world. They prefer a muted less powerful US. The education of the country has been dumbed down. There is constant indoctrination from kindergarten on-share-share-share. No one is exceptional, least of all the US, in the pan-nationalists world. They expect interbreeding to level the playing field. A poor and uneducated peasant populace is far more easy to control, grateful for any handout, also you can knock off the trouble makers. Only God can change what has been set in motion.

Minutemen Chairman Cauley's use of the word "disfellowship" has an eerie, pseudo-religious tone to it that implies he has more authority than just being the leader of what is now seen as a bunch of angry, mid-life-crisis, blow-hards. Mr. Segura had every right, as a free citizen, to express his opinion about the increasing negative tone in the immigration debate. As a well-known figure in the debate, he perhaps even had a duty to do so.

Ask for calm and you get verbally abused for two hours. Yeah, that sure sounds like the America we all want, right? Can't encourage civility or rational thinking, or else you are branded as evil. Stuff like this is the seed of totalitarianism.

    Charity is the greatest love.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

    Meekness, temperance:

Against such there is no law.

Love the hispanics as we should love one another. Many are law abiding people and provide much in charity.

    Stop listening to Faux News.

He had no business setting policy for a group that he doesn't represent as leader.

America can't be the worlds welfare agency. We give a lot of money to other countries in foreign aid. It's a person who should be deciding who they are charitable to, not government. It's also not our governments job to follow a religion, as they represent all religions.

The list turned in parents that were here illegally. They were reporting a crime.

This country is based on Christianity and the foundations of the belief are Faith Hope and Charity. The greatest being Charity. If we don't hold out our hand to those most in need are we still Americans. Americans are the last hope in this world for the downtrodden and wretched hopefuls looking for a way better. Let's not turn our backs because we can't or won't share this great land. Our open door has alway been the beacon of hope in this world, let's not turn off the lights because we are scared of change. Immigrant bot legal and not have always had a place in this country. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. If you have never broken the law, you would be a first. Don't deny the poor and under advantaged to have a shot at something better. Open up your hearts.

Minutemen maybe mean well but they also go to the extremes like the old Salem Witch Hunts that made unfounded illogical allegations against people in their beliefs. I allow the Minutemen and all others to voice their opinions, but please do some checking to find out the true story before they start their yelling and making unholy demands. It turns out that there were only a couple of illegal immigrants on the list and it was the children that were receiving the benefits and they were born here so they are legal. This country has gotten to encourage every body to be super negative and super sensitive about every thing. We need to get back to the values that America has stood for and for Christians to practice in every day life.
