Not an awful tactic. Let them bring the game to you early and attack later. The woodwork didn't help us, but if we nick the first goal we win vs Dallas.
You win some, you lose some. Chivas should be the perfect remedy for the loss.
I would agree with the idea that a 4-4-2 would have resulted in the real Real showing up for the match, but once Jason fielded a 4-5-1 he should have commited to it for the whole match. 0-0 at 69 minutes is a good result under the circumstances, The aggressive substitutions need to be used at home when 3 points are the goal. On the road its O.K. to play for the draw and this team was getting it done for 3/4 of the match.
Didn't he try this same tactic up in Toronto?
He also second guessed that one too!
Playing not to loose is the worst soccer tactic ... other than playing 'American Football Style Soccer' (i.e.: Netherlands)
Poor decision or not, you have to like the way he's approaching things. He's obviously making these tactical decisions for a reason, and isn't afraid to share those reasons with us. He's also going to learn from this and be a better coach for it.
You da man Kreis!
Wow. First loss in 11 games and we are second-guessing things. I smell burn-out coming.
The adjustments would have worked better if he hadnt done them so quickly. Making a double sub is far too dangerous, especially if the formation is switching. He should have subbed on Saborio and then 5-10 minutes later Andy. Then the adjustment wouldnt have been so quick and likely wouldnt have resulted in such quick goals against us.
Oh well, live and learn, DESTROY the goats Saturday boys!
coach kreis, you have to gamble and take a risk at times and that's precisely what you did. it was worth a shot. now let's readjust and get back to our winning ways...starting with the chivas.
I like the fact that he's open with the press. Kreis is a great coach and the players respect the fact that he's reflective in his coaching. Go Real!
Kreis is one of the best coaches in the MLS. I'm glad to have a coach that is questioning one loss in the past 11 games.
