The HOV lanes here in SLC are a joke. IF Salt Lake wanted to see how it is done, they should have gone to DC, where the HOV lanes are wonderful.
Trying to force a supposedly anti-pollutiion, mass-transit option on Utah freeways through the use of a single HOV lane appears more image than substance. Hopefully, the new law will have the State investigate and report to the State Legislature the reality of HOV use in Utah.
Why don't we in Utah look to Las Vegas to find a better way to route traffic. The farthest left lane is for through traffic there, letting the semi's and other pass-through traffic be avoided by those entering and exiting the freeways. Considering all the tourists and commuters that travel Las Vegas freeways they have less accidents and travel time is much shorter.
