I wish the good representative all the luck in the world. I am stunned that we even have an issue at enforcing the laws.

As a parallel to the Arizona bill on immigration, we currently have Utah Highway Patrol, County Sheriffs, and city police pulling people over late at night for the most mundane things--license plate light out, driving too close to the white line, missed turn signal--just so they can catch potential drunk drivers. We're fine with that, for some reason. I'm fine with that. I have met officers who do this because they have lost family or friends to a drunk driver.

The Arizona bill does the same thing for illegal immigrants. It's a huge crime as well. Most of us have been affected by the illegal activities of illegal immigrants. They do not deserve special treatment. They're breaking a serious law.

I support Steve Sandstrom. This state needs more men like him.
Instead we have a wad of elected men-children consulting their weekly ouija boards to help them decide which laws they want to enforce, and which laws they don't!
It is very clear to most of the rest of us, that in the next election we need some MEN with backbones to be elected to office.
As for me, maybe I will decide which laws I want to obey, ....or not.

Someone needs to stand up for the majority. I know that sounds funny, but it's the truth in the immigration debate. So many of our laws are being ignored, and the secret society blocking enforcement is causing this country to crumble from the inside.

It's not just the people that come here illegally that are being ignored, many of our leaders are breaking Federal law each day by not enforcing our laws.

We have stopped being a country of laws, ethics, honesty, integrity mean nothing to this society of law breakers.

I agree with Steve Sandstrom on immigration and I applaud his efforts.

BUT I think anyone who brags about killing dozens of animals so he can put heads on his wall is disgusting. I don't get people like that.

CWEB

Yes...another rich guy...with no compassion for those who have less than HE does...for NO FAULT of their own...

How many people are like Steve? Is he mainstream America?

Traveled all over Africa...Killing animals to hang on his wall...

Gold Chains on his neck...

Lake Powell Tan...

on and on an on...and this is the rich guy deciding when a poor person, often facing death or finding a better life, takes a risk...(often risking their lives) to TRY to provide for a little child.

I'm glad Mr. Sandstrom, who probably is NOT a racist, only selfish (not in his own, or his family's mind) but loves HIS wealth, but is going to make sure that these (mostly good families) don't get THEIR share of the world's good.

Because, hey, he might not be able to keep his!

Legal? If the Federal Government had done what they were SUPPOSED to do, and fix the immigration system so it met the needs of our nation, we would have the same 12-14 million immigrants,

Except---- they WOULD already be here legally...

IF ALL THINGS WERE EQUAL AND FAIR.

I am really REALLY against big game hunting, but Sandstrom is doing it legally. He is acquiring the permits and obeying the laws of the countries he visits in order to pursue his dream. If all immigrants obeyed the laws of the U.S. in order to pursue their dreams, I would support them, but they don't. They go about getting what they want by illegal means and then expect to be welcomed by law-abiding citizens. I support you, Rep. Sandstrom, in your support of the laws of this country.

JayTee

Representative Sandstrom REALLY has his work cut out for him. He's up against people like Tony Yapias, Mark Shurtleff, and Chris Burbank who will twist the truth all day long to get what they want and get the support of their constituency, he's dealing with the Salt Lake Chamber and their drive for continued cheap labor, he's facing a national administration which follows in the footsteps of those who obviously want open borders and a continued deterioration of the nation and its culture, he will have challenges from misguided ecclesiastical leaders who essentially equate theft with charity, and all the rest. But thank goodness we have a few like him who are willing to put up with all that to preserve what we have here, and not let this country slide into another third-world quagmire. This invasion is serious business, and we're defintely at war with those who effectively work to gradually dismantle this country and its culture. Then when terrorism or other disasters happen, they'll be looking for someone else to blame--maybe another war on the other side of the planet.

Excellent bio on Rep Sandstrom. He has gained enough experience in the Legislature now to really move forward. I wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts. Too bad there aren't more that see what is happening and have the courage to do what is right.

Bravo Sen. Sandstrom!

We need leaders who are willing to stand up and fight for what is right, even when it is not politically correct, or not applauded by the biased media.

He is busy saving our country while his critics are busy pandering to people who have no right to be here.

He is a brave man. And a good man. Exactly the kind that we need serving in public office.

I am especially disappointed that some other politicians like the Governor and AG Shurtleff will not stand up to the illegals and their enablers. They need to take some lessons from Sandstrom!

UtahBlueDevil

It takes courage to be ultra conservative in Utah? Now I have heard everything.

I don' t doubt his motives are honest and true. But he is factually poorly informed. First generation immigrants have not always hurried to assimilate. Why do you think the country is dotted with China towns, or little Italies, Tokyos, Havannahs..... and so on. In New York, do you think you can find the Jewish part of the city or Italian? Why do you think we have the highland games, saint pat ricks day parades, the list goes on. Why do you suppose we have so many towns named after European counterparts.

America is the giant melting pot it is because everyone brought their cultures with them. It wasn't an act of disrespect then, and it isn't now. So I have no issues with his quest, just his integrity in how he is doing it. No one wants America to become a police state, and no one wants to pay the bill for one either. Saying the feds are unwilling to patrol is a distortion of what they want to do versus what they can afford to do. Otherwise, I agree with him.

danaslc

Great to have Rep Sandstrom in Utah's corner. We need him.

Shaun

Instead of deporting any body that is here illegally the government should offer them two choices. They can either go back to what ever country they are from or they can pay a $500 fine right away, enroll in a english class and pass it, reveal where they are working and verify they are paying taxes. They must also pay a monthly fee that would go towards a immigration officer to check on them for one year.

After one year if they have done everything asked of them then they will gain citzenship.

I support Rep. Steve Sandstrom. and just talking to him you can tell that he's a very humble and honest man, who wants to do the right thing for his State. I wish he were running for Governor. I realize that he has an up hill battle on his hands . But if all the people who are upset with Illegal Immigration would just e-mail their Legislator and let Him/Her know that you want the Illegal problem fixed and that you support Rep. Sandstrom I think he can win this battle. Let's vote those Legislators who don't support him out of office!

Thank you Rep. Sandstrom for representing the majoority of us who want our laws enforced. Keep it up please!

BroJoseph

Heaven help us if this guy gets in as Senator or a Congressman. We already have enough hate legislation to constrict human exitence. As I have always stated, those who own guns do so with the passion and desire to kill, arming themselves for the event. Owning a gun is lieu of premeditated justice and judgement. If it wasnt for ease of US law in Utah last century, Sandstroms Scandanavian ancesters would have been deported. Judgement belongs to the Creator not the creation.

paintperson

I support Rep. Sandstrom's efforts to stem the tide of illegal immigration in Utah. Those in Utah who are pro-illegal have NO idea what is coming our way, if they succeed in their efforts to bring more illegals to Utah. Having lived in California and been to the border, it is a takeover that is culturally and financially devastating to a state. I'm sure the loudest pro-illegals have never been in an ER waiting room, amidst a standing room only crowd of obviously illegal aliens - and told they will have a six hour wait to be seen! This happened to me in Escondido, California. The schools and entire communities have been transformed into little Tijuanas. One day Utah will wake up sorry that Shurtleff and crowd welcomed illegals to Utah.

The citizens and the legislature need to support Sandstrom's efforts!

scambuster

With Sandstrom running on the loose, no wonder Africa's animals are endangered.

Aggie

How many people go to Africa and shoot 40 different animals? It’s a wonder there are any animals left. And how can you be “passionate” about guns?

I don’t understand a man who kills animals for fun and brags about it.

JBrady

Let's see if I understand this. India, China, Mexico and the Philippines have more people apply for citizenship for relatives, than our immigration supplies each year.

So Mexico's government, Hispanic leaders and some business here in the states encourage them to come here illegally.

Once here, they can hide in the shadows for years, because certain factions in our government have decided not to enforce our laws. Instead they use the term racist, and justify with compassion and sympathy instead of doing enforcement.

And as Americans we are expected to buy this?
Good luck Mr. Sandstrom. We are behind you. It's time for America to take back it's rights to control our immigration, not this group who look only for their own self interest.

anti-liar

I don't like the idea of hunting animals for sport, but that is irrelevant. What matters here is that Sandstrom is on the side of what is right in regard to the illegal invasion problem and the very threat to the country that it is.

I appreciate and support his efforts!
