Will he be passionate about playing for a .500 team this year, with 30 point losses to TCU, Utah, and FSU?
Is he passionate knowing big brother just got invited to play with the big boys and that he's stuck with the pee-wee league? And that he'll never be better than 3rd best in that league?
Good luck st. heaps, you're in for a rough few years
Never has so much been written about a player who has accomplished so little at the D1 level of football.
At least wait until the kid takes a D1 snap before immortalizing him.
Sheeesh.
BYU is putting a lot of hopes for this season on Heaps, let's hope he can live up to the hype. Good luck Jake!
Great article on BEN OLSON...oh wait...who is Jake Heaps? My mistake... sorry.
Utah is the one who will be 500 chris.
First two posts by scared anti-zoobs.
Utah in the PAX will be so overshadowed by heaps, Ute fans will be whining.
Give him a shot to beat Utah at RES the first year. Beat em good on their way out.

Will he be passionate about playing for a .500 team this year, with 30 point losses to TCU, Utah, and FSU?"... Chris B Whines...
The kid is the best in the nation, and has never been a .500 QB. That ought to scare the Bejeebies out of the Utes.
The kid will be a sophomore by the time they play the Utes.
Look for Utah to be a five loss team at the end of the season, and look for Heaps to win the conference.
Anyone can be invited anywhere, but BYU has owned Utah 3 of the past 4 years...
Look for it to become 4 outa 5...
It would kill Utah fans for BYU to go BCS Utah's final year in the MWC mid major, where they have owned a solid grip on third place in football...
When Utah gets highly rated...oh wait! Utah doesn't get highly rated players! They get leftovers!...So they wouldn't know anything about All-Americans, Heisman Winners, Hall of Fame players, Legendary Coaches, Super Bowl player and Coaches, and National Championships....Nevermind!
I see a couple resident Utah trolls couldn't wait to be the first to demonstrate their little brother syndrome. They only wish the Utes had a quarterback half as good as Heaps.
Yeah, we saw the monster year Wynn had last season; what was he, an awesome 3-2? Which should translate to about a 7-5 record this year? It's a good thing that Boise State won't be joining the MWC until next year or the Utes might have trouble finishing above 5th in the MWC this year.
Wow Chris B. Quite a soothsayer. Any tips on the stock market. Lets look at history. 40 some odd wins the last 4 years. 3 bowl wins, 3 wins over the Ute's. I think I will look elswhere for my tips.
Howard S. Jealous are we? His accolades are based on a storied H.S. career. This article is based on HIGHSCHOOL performance. Maybe you should actually read the article before you comment.
2010 BYU by 30 over Utah. Looking forward to it!
I know one thing, the cougs will not lose to Utah. He is worthy of the hype. BYU is not doing the hype, the media is. No Y coaches commented in this article. I like that he wears #9 as well.
HA! HA! HA! HA! This is a lot of ink for kid who hasn't even taken a snap! I hope you enjoyed reading this Riley Nelsen! Your illustrious BYU career just ended with serioius time on the bench! HA! HA! HA! HA!
Yeah Chris, where did Utah finish last year? was it third? keep talking about how you got your invite, that's all you have, once the season starts you better hope you don't lose a game cause everyone is waiting to make fun of the yewts when you lose to Wyoming. at least you know your going to play with the big boys. And Jake Heaps will even make you a believer, just wait.
Jake Heaps is an outstanding young man and BYU is lucky to have him. He's passionate about the game, he has great leadership qualities, but he's also very humble.
I had the opportunity of meeting him several months ago at the missionary farewell dinner for another BYU football player. Brandon Davies was also there, busing tables after he'd finished eating.
I didn't even notice Jake until my son pointed him out to me, sitting quietly at a small table by himself, enjoying the dinner, but not drawing any attention to himself even though he'd only recently arrived at BYU as the new "big man on campus".
Ironically, the player whose passion for the game Jake reminds me of most is Jim McMahon. Jim had a never say die attitude for winning that was remarkable. I'll never forget sitting high above the end zone in December 1980 and watching McMahon throw that 50-yard pass to Clay Brown to cap that amazing Miracle Bowl comeback.
Good luck Jake!
And thanks for choosing BYU!
It's going to be a treat for every BYU football fan watching you for the next four years.
Let the hate-filled. moronic posts from Utah fans begin. MOUte, WHERE ARE YOU?
Good luck to Heaps who I am sure is a great kid and just wants to play football.
Chris B
It must be sad when UTEYS can't beat a PEE WEE team. I guess that makes Utah Gremmies. Just because Utah is in the PAC12 doesn't make them good. You'll always be BYUs B.
6-6 and at best for UTAH 2011
To Chris B and Howard S:
Do you even bother reading the BYU articles before throwing your jealous, hated-filled temper tantrums?
Someday, maybe, you'll grow up and learn that football is just a game and that it's okay to have respect for your rivals.
I've shared many dinners with extended families who have sons playing for both BYU and Utah. Some wear team gear for Utah; some for BYU. All are passionate about the game. All are respectful of each other and realize it's just a game.
A couple of them sat next to us at the Las Vegas Bowl last December; wearing their Utah jerseys, and cheering for BYU.
Yes, BYU really IS staking a lot on Heaps because they are NOT content to just have an excellent season every 4 years when they have a senior QB. FSU will be a difficult game, but a 30-pt loss to utah?? Hilarious, Chris B. By the time the utah game rolls around WHOMEVER is the QB at BYU will have 11 games under his belt, thus the 1st year starter concerns will be insignificant. Amazing how an announced conference alignment decision suddenly made the utes a "big boy" in their own delusional minds. We shall see....
Howard S. you should move out of happy valley and see what real HYPE is. You must have missed the situation in the OSU/UM rivalry when Prior chose OSU.
I appreciate these type of articles during the summer doldrums. Somthing/Anything football related is nice. It is nice to see where all of the kids that signed come from, not just the hyped. Though I am not sure if there is a need to mention the kids GF. WHy don't we just leave it to football and what got him there.
Chris B. I usually just laugh at your posts as you obviously only troll for comments. I do, however, enjoy the opportunity to point out your stupidity. Heaps chose BYU over the other 2 dozen schools he was offered. If he really wanted a BCS school he had more than enough opportunity to pick whichever one he liked. He chose BYU because it was BYU. I personally am a fan of the uniqueness of the school as do the 34,000 students and thousands of alums.
