Gimme a break!
If I "care deeply" can I stop paying taxes, and maybe rob a bank or two?
Is the criteria for excusing criminal acts now:
"...he cared deeply," Geddes told KUTV. "And he's someone who's donated a lot to Utah, and a lot to the most vulnerable people there are in this state."
As a former lawmaker he should get the book thrown at him, not compassion!
What happened to simply obeying the law?
This is getting to be an embarrassing epidemic, isn't it? Our lawmakers and politicians breaking the law, that is.
Making medicine for people shouldnt be illegal
I am disappointed that Utah hasn't even caught up with 4 bordering states that support medical marijuana. Denver for that matter has completely decriminalized up to an ounce.
Utah is at least 20 years behind the times again. Just like with civil rights. =( Shame on Utah.
Legalize all drugs.....shocking I said that? Well with much liberty comes much responsibility. And of course many consequences if you abuse those responsibilities and infringe upon the rights of others while using drugs. Meaning if you commit a crime against others while under the influence of drugs means VERY stiff penalties will come your way.
You commit a serious crime under the influence of any drug ( LSD, marijuana, alcohol etc) you get thrown into a work prison camp. You don't work? You don't eat.
You stay there until you fully pay for the cost of your crime, your incarceration, etc.
After your release you commit another serious crime under the influence then you go back to the work prison camp and stay there MUCH longer.
If after your release again you commit a third serious crime under the influence of a drug you get sent to a work prison camp for the rest of your natural life. No parole. No mercy for such a habitual criminal who has shown no mercy to others.
You don't like these consequences? Then don't commit crime under the influence of drugs.
meanwhile, the Mexican drug cartels are just gettin' richer...
SLU2.. oh really I didn't know mushrooms were also on the list of medical marijuana. I suggest you read the article before you post, you sound totally uniformed.

I am disappointed that Utah hasn't even caught up with 4 bordering states that support medical marijuana. Denver for that matter has completely decriminalized up to an ounce.
Guess what, Slu2? This was a LOT more than an ounce for medicinal purposes. Read the article before spouting off some 'medical defense':
[Officers serving a warrant found 16 pounds of packaged marijuana, 30 mature marijuana plants, 169 "starter" plants and psychedelic mushrooms found in the bedroom closet, according to police reports.]
16 pounds = 256 ounces. 255 times over Denver's legal limit. Colorado would have arrested him too. Plus the mature and starter plants, there was potential for much more. This guy was a grower and distributor, not a pharmacist. Book 'em.
Re: Patrick Henry.
Sieg Heil
Isn't it strange when a Republican says a bad word, it is "Republican says bad word", but let a Democrat get busted with a pot farm and is there ONE single reference to his political affiliation?
I don't think Geddes was defending Fox's drug use. She was just saying he was otherwise a good guy. Turns out he wasn't too smart about his agricultural interests, however.
Not surprising coming from a guy who lead Utah's own network of socialist (aka Crossroads Urban Center). What is surprising is no mention of a candlelight vigil in his honor or a drum circle at Liberty Park...
Also not surprising is KSL not picking up this story on a former legislator getting busted for trafficking (yes, its trafficking at this level) this much weed and mushrooms. But then again KSL is the publicity arm for Crossroads, so what do you expect? Fair and Honest reporting?
If someone tells you "Marijuana isn't really a bad drug" remember Jeff Fox and call them a liar. 30 years ago he was a state legislator and the director of a small nonprofit. Now he is just a guy who has been unemployed and getting high on his on supply for a really long time.
Stache: What part of "former" do you not understand? Fox has not been in charge of anything, including his own life, for decades now.
Well thanks goodness he didn't get into a hot tub nude with a 15 year old girl and admit it on the floor of the senate.
He was probably the supplier for all the hippie liberal socialists down at the CORC. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Linda Hilton and her crew were scoring dime bags from him.
I don't care if he had only an ounce or 16 million plants. Marijuana is safer than aspirin.
Last year according to the CDC, aspirin killed 7500 people. Marijuana killed zero in all of history.
"Last year according to the CDC, aspirin killed 7500 people. Marijuana killed zero in all of history."
Might this have anything to do with the two drugs' relative access?
"Might this have anything to do with the two drugs' relative access? "
Seeing that humans have used marijuana for over 10,000 years. And seeing that 12% of Americans regularly use marijuana. And it is the #1 cash crop in 14 states. I don't think that relative access is a factor.
Marijuana is safer.
